Harrison Ford returns to the role of the legendary hero archaeologist for this fifth instalment of the iconic franchise. Starring along with Ford are Phoebe Waller-Bridge (โFleabagโ), Antonio Banderas (โPain and Gloryโ), John Rhys-Davies (โRaiders of the Lost Arkโ), Shaunette Renee Wilson (โBlack Pantherโ), Thomas Kretschmann (โDas Bootโ), Toby Jones (โJurassic World: Fallen Kingdomโ), Boyd Holbrook (โLoganโ), Oliver Richters (โBlack Widowโ), Ethann Isidore (โMortelโ) and Mads Mikkelsen (โFantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledoreโ). Directed by James Mangold (โLe Mans '66,โ โLoganโ), the film is produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel, with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas serving as executive producers. John Williams, who has scored each Indy adventure since the original "Raiders of the Lost Ark" in 1981, is once again composing the score. SPECIAL FEATURES: The Making of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny: Chapters 1-5 Chapter 1 - Prologue, The Making of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny: Chapters 1-5 Chapter 2 - New York, The Making of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny: Chapters 1-5 Chapter 3 - Morocco, The Making of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny: Chapters 1-5 Chapter 4 - Sicily, The Making of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny: Chapters 1-5 Chapter 5 - Finale, Score-Only Version of the Movie LANGUAGE: 7.1 DTS-HDMA English / 5.1 Dolby Digital German / 2.0 Dolby Audio Described English / 7.1 Dolby Digital Plus Music Score SUBTITLES: English for the hearing impaired, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish Review: Entertaining. - Itโs a good film. Itโs not the best of the series, but itโs certainly not the worst. Plenty of action, humour and some very clever CGI. It kept me interested and engaged. This version is BluRay so it has excellent sharp and clear motion. Foreign languages are spoken at various points throughout the film so using the forced subtitles is an advantage. (E.g. the start of the film has a fair bit of German dialogue, and towards the end itโs Ancient Greek (I think). With the right setting, as theyโre forced subtitles they only appear when language other than English is used. Review: Top Indy - Very well done film. Old style Indy full of action. I liked the story, thought it was well conceived. The acting I thought was great all round. Phoebe and her character I thought were very good reminded me of Karen Allen in the original. All round a great adventure. I also felt it had a fitting end as I'm Not sure who could fill Harrison's shoes for any further adventures. Btw took a second viewing to come to this conclusion. Just like the others, should stand repeated viewings.

I J and THE DIAL OF DESTINY DVD
Another film that I find hard to rate. It is a huge project that must and did cost millions, and it shows on screen. Superb, mindblowing stunts that made me gasp. Action that hardly ever slows down, and Harrison in his last bow as "Indy". What didn't I like/enjoy? I will try and be constructive, and remember, this is just my personal opinion. ONE The film is too long. As so often happens, big budgets mean 2 1/2 hours regardless of whether the script calls for it. TWO I felt there was little or no "soul" - The stunts seemed to be just there to show how clever we all are. I didn't care about Indy, and certainly not aboutPWB whose character was mostly quite unlikeable. PBW is now almost a cult figure, but, for me, she added nothing to the role heroine/partner to Indy. THREE The villains! How did they manage to ALWAYS turn up and thwart Indy's efforts. Coincidences be blowed, it was just annoying. FOUR Very minor spoiler...The ending was just ludicrous. So...The stunts, superb as they are just go on and on and on. The script is weak (the one liners are pathetic). Good bits? Of course, and it was great to see John Rhys Davies and Karen Allen, but without prior knowledge, did anyone recognise Banderas??? Obviously this has pleased many fans and I am sure my criticisms fall into the minority but both my wife and I, fans of the franchise, were very disapointed. Good price, excellent picture, sound (so important these days) and subtitles, so it is a must for so many. I just hope there are more 5 star reviewers out there than miseries like me.

The Destiny of Indy
A new Indiana Jones film. Fifth in the series. And it would seem is the last one. Since you must have seen all the previous ones by now, you shouldn't have any problem getting into this. DISCLAIMER: I liked Crystal Skull. So there. This one is not directed by Steven Spielberg. We begin with a long prologue scene. Set back in World War two, Indy and a colleague [Toby Jones] are on a daring mission behind enemy lines. Action takes place. This is setting up things that become important later. The villains are Nazis. Which is always going to work. The action isn't bad at all. Although the whole section takes place at night, so it is a bit tricky to see what's going on at some moments. Indy in this scene is Harrison Ford still. His face de-aged by computer trickery. You have to just go with it. If you stop to think about how it works or not, then it will spoil the illusion. How successful this ultimately is will be a matter of opinion. Then to the main body of the film: late 60's Indy is down on his luck and at a dead end. When Helena [Phoebe Waller-Bridge] daughter of the colleague from the earlier scene, comes looking for him. Which leads to both of them getting caught up in a quest for an artefact and having to deal with a villain with evil henchmen and a specific plan. Is Indy too old for one last adventure? It's great to hear the music again. There's something gloriously nostalgic about that. Which is what I liked about the film. It was nice to have one more go at this franchise. While it's not Spielberg, the directing is capable. Harrison Ford does his best and since the writing does remember how old the character is, it works. Mads Mikkelsen is a decent enough villain. There's a globe trotting narrative which does progress in a decent manner. One supporting character is reasonably well used. But: The big problem with this is Helena. Audience for Crystal Skull: 'Boo! We hate Shia Labeouf as this character who is clearly meant to take over the franchise!.' Disney: 'Alright then, let's try that again but with a female character.' Internet: 'Boo! We hate said character even though we've not seen the film yet!"'. Helena is a three dimensional creation. The acting is capable. But she is rude and arrogant throughout and becomes a thoroughly unsympathetic character as a result. That's not to do with her gender, it's just her personality. Her backstory gives reason for this and it works, but it doesn't make her someone you want to spend time with or see more of. She does develop a bit over the course of this. But frankly not quite enough by the end to have gotten me past those issues. The final quarter of the film is quite clever. I liked what it did plot wise because it was very logical and had some good surprises. But it does make one very big error in the writing. Let's just say I now understand what people mean about someone having agency. Spoilers. But it is a flaw. The ending is not bad. Although it doesn't quite close the door as it could have. Even though this really is by all accounts it. This is not a bad watch if you want a good nostalgia fix. I am glad I gave it a go. But more Helena? No thanks. The fate of one character is perhaps a bit too graphic for the very young. And there is a moment with flashing lights, thus not good for epileptics and those who can't handle strobe lighting. The dvd has the following language and subtitle options: Languages: English, Castilian Spanish, Catalan Spanish. English audio described. Subtitles: English, Castilian Spanish, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish. There's nothing extra during or after the end credits. And there are no extras on the dvd at all.
