This battery tester arrived in a branded cardboard box and contains the battery checker wrapped in a plastic bag and a quick start guide. The 12 V battery tester covers a wide range of battery types and is suitable for testing batteries between 8V – 16V. The checker is compact in size so is easy to store in your boot or in the garage and it checks a wide range of functions.I am no expert in this field by any means, but I have a family member who works with cars who checked it over for me and said that it was reasonably accurate. Of course, this doesn’t compare to the battery tester they use in garages, which are a lot more expensive, but it gives you a good idea of the health of your battery and whether you should be replacing it or if it needs charging. The LCD is clear to read and there are also different language settings available if required.The car battery tester can give an indicate the battery life / health, battery internal resistance, the voltage, age and remaining battery power. There are other readings available off this device but my mine interest is the battery health. It offers quick results that are relatively accurate and you don’t even need to remove the battery from the car to test it which is very useful. I also quite like that you can’t accidentally damage the battery with reverse polarity as the device prevents this.Priced at £26.99 at the time of reviewing, this battery tester is a useful gadget to have, particularly if you are worried that your battery is coming to the end of its life, and although I don’t personally understand all of the extensive readings, it is simple enough to understand the basics and make an informed decision.

I had my car in for service a week ago and I asked my technician if they could use this quickly to test my battery alongside their professional tester as I am not a mechanic by any stretch of the imagination and I wouldn't want to get to my battery if I don't have to as it is quite hard to get to, also I was not allowed in the service bay area so unfortunately could not take photos so I did ask them nicely .So they tested it and their professional tester tested my battery at around 76% this one apparently the state of the battery came at 69 %and 72 % on 2 tests(the professional tester does tests a bit differently than this one) so for a little DIY device to give you some idea where your battery is at its not too bad ..obviously not as accurate however not too bad either given that a professional tester is a couple of hundreds of £.It does test crank as in how good is your battery in terms of starting your car however they did not test this.
