Are metal chopsticks slippery?

Polished steel ones are. These have a bead blasted, unpolished finish and CNC ring grooves on the tips that grip noodles, rice and fish. If you have only used wood, give yourself a meal or two to adjust.

Do they get hot in soup?

The tips warm up in hot broth, like any metal utensil, so give them a second before they touch your lips. The handles stay comfortable because they sit well above the bowl.

Will they change the taste of my food?

No. Grade 1 titanium is inert, so it adds no metallic taste and does not absorb soy sauce, garlic or chili oil the way wood and bamboo do.

Can I cook with them?

Yes, for stirring, flipping and plating. Keep the tips off nonstick pan coatings, which any metal utensil can scratch. Cast iron, carbon steel, stainless and titanium pans are fine.

Do they come with a case, and do they make a good gift?

Each pair ships in a gray drawstring bag. They are a common gift for sushi and ramen lovers, and some buyers add a second pair so one stays home and one travels.
