From every corner of the world, here youโll find recipes both familiar and new. Legend has it that buns were developed to enable poor people to buy bread with dignity. Dignity for the buyer โ who could not afford a loaf and for whom it was either humiliating or impossible to buy just a slice or two โ and dignity for the bun โ which was sold with its crust and crumb beautifully intact, a small piece of perfection to be shared as graciously as a big loaf. Whatever their history, we can find buns in just about every country in the world. There are sweet buns and savoury buns; steamed buns and baked buns; stuffed buns and plain buns; buns for special occasions and buns for every day. The Book of Buns takes you on a journey around the world to explore bun culture. The clear recipes are often accompanied by step-by-step photography to make it both fun and easy to bake buns for family and friends to enjoy. Review: One of a kind! - I have baked my way through a few of these recipes and am really impressed with the results. I am not a novice at bread making, but I'm always looking for some new inspiration and a recipe I haven't tried yet. The beauty of small rolls or buns is that you can throw a few into the freezer for another time and they make perfect additions to any lunch box. Delicious recipes are thoughtfully photographed and a little bit of information about the geography and history of each bun is included. This is a perfect second book to jane's 'all you knead is bread', first book. I'd certainly recommend this one to anyone who has an interest in bread making or baking in general. It is the perfect repertoire expander! I hope there's another book soon! Review: Wonderful book to read and bake from - Some lovely recipes from around the world - & great to have some thing that can be smaller portions and frozen (since there are only 2 of us at home usually). Why 4 stars? Because the index is not that helpful - it would be useful to have additional indices which list, for example, savoury and sweet, filled and not, or similar. You really do have to hunt through if looking for example for a nice, simple savoury bread roll.

Great buns!
I have now baked a few savoury and sweet buns from this book, and I've been very happy with all of them. I definitely not a beginner with baking, but I still found a few new tips and techniques that seem to work quite nicely. The recipes are quite varied, with buns from all over the world, and each has good pictures and step by step explanations. I'm particularly pleased about the fact that a few of the recipes I had never seen in any of my other baking cookbooks!

Yeasted Buns from around the World
This is the third copy I have bought: second and third for presents. I have now baked more than 2/3rd of all the recipes, and am finding the group on facebook inspiring. Jane Mason, the author is very encouraging. I am learning many techniques and am finding the different buns and flavours delicious, and enjoying sharing them with friends. Each time I bake from the book, I write about them on my blog. It has also inspired me to develop my own recipes and shaping.

Excellent book to try out different buns from around the world
Good book with lots of different recipes and suggestions of different ingredients that can be used - i.e. you don't only need fresh yeast for all. Sometimes don't realise a recipe has to be started ahead - which can be a little frustrating. Otherwise lots to recommend!

This book reinforces my addiction to baking
The recipes were so easy to follow for the ones I have tried out so far and all have turned out so well. At some stage I am going to have a go at all the recipes. The book is well written and I cannot see a reason why someone looking to start their own business cannot use this book to market premium buns. Jane definitely deserves 5 stars for this amazing book of buns.

Where have you been all my baking life ?
This bread book in one word FAB!!! I love discovering new bread recipes and this is chock full of them, bun recipes from all four corners of the globe. I was trying out recipes within hours of delivery of this book. 50 plus bakes so my family get to enjoy a new bread every week, yummy!

Excellent and easy to follow recipes
I have now made about 12 recipes from this book - buns are a lot easier to master than full-sized loaves, and this book gives really good tips ("worry about the raisins, the dough will recover").

A good bread baking book
I'm a bread baker and knew what the book was like, so no complaints there. The book iis of good quality given it is in used condition.

It also does a very good job of explaining technique which is very important to ...
I bought this book as a relatively inexperienced baker. In an effort to avoid factory food, I started making the bread for my family. I found out that making rolls was more suitable to our needs. I can bake them in the weekend, put them in the freezer and during the week my family can just pull out what they need per day out of the freezer. Always fresh bread. The book is full of fabulous recipes! It also does a very good job of explaining technique which is very important to any baker especially a new one. A friend and I were so enthusiastic over the book that we decided to bake our way through the entire book and started a facebook group where we do just that along with many other happy bun bakers!
