Rolling Library Ladder Hardware Kit,Multi-use for Loft Stairs/Bookshelf (4FT Sliding Kit)

I built my own 6'W x 10'H bookcase of red oak, and built a rolling library ladder from a couple of kits, including this one. It looks and works great! I weigh around 200 lbs., and it is plenty sturdy enough to safely support me on the ladder. I'd never built anything like this before, but it was easier than I thought it would be. I'm delighted with the results!

My wife has wanted a library ladder to replace the constant use of a step ladder to water her plants on a beam that is 9 feet high. Lots of searching found overpriced hardware kits, but this is much more reasonably priced. The track went together easily on the beam and I built a wooden ladder and fixed the wheel kits to the ladder. I couldn’t be happier with the results, it’s very sturdy, and rolls smoothly. The all black hardware looks fabulous and everything fit together just as it should. Looks 100 years old and works like brand new. Wife is happy!

I bought this with extra track to make 13.5 feet worth of track, and it's holding up great so far and looks amazing. I haven't found a better price for this quality anywhere. The only thing not quality... the screws. Don't even bother with them, get your own. They strip as soon as you touch them. If you are joining multiple pieces of track like we were, I also highly suggest WD-40ing the connecter and the inside of the pipe and banging in each new piece after screwing in the one before it. Definitely a two person job. Tip for ladder - build a DIY one using This Old House library ladder instructions. Works with this set perfectly. The instructions for building one that comes with the hardware are TERRIBLE.

I had purchased a different rail system for my library ladder, but it only had wheels on top, which meant it could be easily removed, or accidentally come off the track and fall. This system has wheels on top and bottom of the tube, which securely holds the ladder place. Much safer experience. I had to buy an extension tube, but the installation was simple and I have the whole thin in place in about an hour. I highly recommend.

Almost all of the brackets are welded on crooked, the welding job to the railing is extremely poor, and there is no way to contact the seller to make this right. It is “out of the return window” so it’s hundreds of dollars wasted on poor work with poor customer service. DO NOT PURCHASE.

The rails look nice and overall perform well but anyone unwilling to modify a brand new product may way to turn away. There were a few issues with these and it is the same for the main rail included in a ladder kit and this extension. 1. The rail to rail connectors use rubber O-rings that are so tight you will dent the rail before getting them to go in. I tried multiple clamps, hammers etc. They don't go in. I ended modifying mine to fit snuggly without the rubber O-rings. 2. Be very careful to pay attention to the direction the brackets for the rail are facing. If you put the wrong side up, the ladder will hit and not roll. 3. The screws do not match the main rail. These extensions and the ladder kit are from the same manufacturer but the screws between both rail kits do not match and the screw heads with this kit are too small.

We really like our library ladder, very convenient in place. We live in a tiny house and store things in the loft.

j'ai acheté pour faire une échelle coulissante qui sert à monter dans le lit qui est en mézanine, pratique et surtout pas cher une escabelle simple à 150,00€ et le système à coulisse le tout pour moins de 300,00€, alors que partout ailleurs minimum 1000,00€. Matériel de bonne qualité et si la barre est trop courte il y a un adaptateur, pour y joindre une rallonge, (ce qui n'est pas mentionné dans la description, dommage, mais du coup bonne surprise car moi il me fallait 2 mètres de long. Je recommande vivement le produit, attention faut être un peu bricoleur, et même averti.

Like other reviews, I found the screws included with the hardware to be lacking. Four #14 screws were included with the main package and that size is good for fixing the track to the bookshelf. The additional track I ordered came with tiny #10 screws with heads almost too small for the holes in the track brackets. The track and the track connectors work well and weren’t very hard to put up straight. Track is made of steel and seems very strong. We mounted the rollers on the inside of the ladder and counter sunk the roller bolts into the back of the ladder to get the bracket tight against the ladder frame. There’s lots of room to make your ladder taller than the top of the bracket. I bought 8' wood pieces to make up my ladder but should have gone a bit longer. Wheels mounted with my own #14 screws as well. Overall good quality for the price. Some other kits were $1000 more direct from manufacturer. So value is here.
