Great game for already Marvel Legendary fans
Marvel Legendary has become a family favourite over recent years, and I was excited to get this to complement our collection. This is a base set game, not an expansion, but you can use it with the older base game and expansions. And from that perspective, this is a fun set to have in your collection, especially as it comes with a mat instead of a board. However, if I hadn't played Legendary before, I would have found it incredibly frustrating as it seemed to play a lot harder than the original core set. Also, you get more/better sets of core cards in the original Marvel Legendary base game so apart from the mat, which is a definite upgrade, it felt a bit stingy with the cards. Like I said, I think it's a great add-on if you've played before but if you haven't, you might need some patience as you learn the ropes.

I LOVE the mat - feel, look, and all. The updated ruleset is great, because now the printed version matches the rules that were clarified on Board Game Geek after the initial base set's release. These masterminds and scheme twists are CRAZY to fight against. The masterminds are great, villains are cool, and everything else is alright for game mechanics. But that galaxy mat? GORGEOUS.

Muito bom o playmat e as cartas básicas novas. Mas a complexidade é bem maior do que dá caixa base original.

It has been a while since we've gotten a new base set, and What If... represents a great starting point. they managed to cram a lot into this rather novel box size including a proper playmat that supports all of Legendary to-date. It is a tad confusing for longer-term Legendary players that the basic agent for Recruitment uses Maria Hill art and the Shield Officer cards use Nick Fury instead, but this is a minor point. We have a very solid set of heroes in a new Guardians of the Multiverse faction that doesn't actually require you to play extensively with the group. The individual characters are pretty solid on their own and nicely capture the first season of the show.
