Useful to make my trailer chain connection
As described. To install, I found it beneficial to use a C-clamp or a welding bar clamp to compress the pin in until tight and then using a mallet/hammer hit the end of the clamp and it will shock hit the pin in. Rinse and repeat until flush and fully installed.

Works!
I’ll start by saying that these are strong, heavy duty and do exactly what they are intended for. That being said, what an absolute pain to install. Finally got them on with the help of a large C clamp (with a cheater pipe on the handle) and a framing hammer (so it wouldn’t mushroom the end of the pin). Gives me a lot of confidence that these won’t be going anywhere.

Installation process....
As others stated: heavy duty. Difficult to start the pin through compression sleeve.I found myself giving up because I couldn't get the pin started into the sleeve either....After initial failure to get pin started.....I went to workbench!I drove pin halfway into sleeve on the bench.. I wanted to see what force was needed...allot!!!But once started into sleeve, additional force is much reduced. Did not use hammerlocks for this test. Of course I had to use a vice and drive the pin back out. Easy.I went back to the truck. I used a scrap of 1x2 and wedged hammerlock against wood. Instead of holding hammerlock and driving pin downward... the wood wedged above the hammerlock against truck hitch frame.Kidding aside, I filled the sleeve with Vaseline;)I drove the pin upward, swinging the hammer from the ground upward. The scrap of wood gave me a surface to hammer against and a longer swing area.Took 5 minutes. This process worked for me.I would recommend buying. Good quality 👌

Terrible to install
Buy something else. Anything else. I tried large C-clamp and several different configurations of supporting a wood block and banging away with a sledge hammer. No luck. First one is stuck on my hitch with the pin hanging out and now no way to remove it.

Heavy duty -BUT- difficult to install...
This pair of towing safety shackles are well built but next to impossible to install. The listing states they are easy to install but I say BS to that due to the ill-fitting pins that need a press or machining to get them placed. I ended up using some stainless steel bolts and locknuts instead of the included pins which will make it easier to remove them down the road if I so chose. If you have the tools and patience to deal with the difficulty factor, then these may be for you or do as I did with the bolts and lock nuts. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

In my product reviews I primarily focus on quality and functionality, and end with my recommendation. It should be noted that, while these items ship to me at no cost, there is a significant time investment and a 20% to 30% tax liability. What you are about to read is strictly my unbiased opinion.Quality: Overall, the quality of these couplers seems to be pretty decent. The pin is held in place by the center collar, that has two spring sleeves, one inside the other. The center of the pin has a machined reliefs where the collar locks into place after being pressed together. I took a couple of pictures of that relief area to show that the machining process wasn’t perfect. In the end, I am confident that it will hold the pin in place, just not the highest standards of quality.Functionality: These couplers are a semi-permanent option and certainly not designed for easy removal. Since the pin slides freely between the outer hinged portions of the coupler, it is only pressed into the center collar. I found a large C-clamp to be the easiest tool for pressing them together. It is important to get the collar to fully seat in the recessed portion of the pin. That was very tricky, because the collar is the exact width of the recess. Since the pin is a little longer than the outside of the coupler, I put a nut over the opposite side I was pressing from to allow the pin to push past just enough for the collar to drop into the recessed area. In the end, it worked perfectly, just beware, this does take a considerable force to get it pressed in.Recommendation: I found these couplers to be very handy on my tow hitch. The original safety chain holes were too small and always wanted to interfere with the hitch pin. These make connecting the safety chains much easier. I am happy with the quality of these couplers, not perfect, but close enough for me. I am happy to recommend these to others.
