Q: Why does the description say "New U" when the standard old version is what actually ships to you???

You may have purchased your lock from another seller other than Amazon.com and they sent you the old lock. I recommend that you purchase items from Amazon.com whenever possible.

Q: Does the Lifetime Warranty cover rust? I see several complaints about the "stainless steel" rusting making these very difficult to open after time.

I have not had any issues. But stainless steel does not rust
