First time owning a real compass!
This is one of the more solid compasses I have ever played with let alone owned and its been on point since using it, I am not experienced in using these things but I'm learning with this one. Its heavy and the quality is amazing. Its very sensitive and works great. It turns with every shift immediately and always points true north.Overall I am still learning the ways of a compass but this one feels like it will last a lifetime! Its compact and can fit it anywhere and I would recommend to anyone in need of a good compass!

Heavy compass
This navigation compass is kind of gimmicky. It's encased in metal, so that adds to the weight of the unit, but the metal isn't quite thick enough to actually save it from a nasty fall or from a drop at height. The compass features are accessories more than lifesaving tools, and the compass needle itself is fairly accurate though. The unit is a little bit bulky, so slipping it away into a pocket is usually going to be out of the question if you want to have other things besides just this one compass in that pocket. The lanyard that it comes with is just a piece of string, so I wouldn't count on that either. It's a good starter compass for someone who is barely starting out on their navigation and exploration journey, but it's not meant for serious wilderness tackling.

High end compass
This waterproof compass is almost two technical for me. I haven't even figured out all of the features. What I can say is that it is built tough for durability. Comes in a case and has a hook and string for carrying options. The compass clearly works well, as I have moved around with it to check accuracy. This would be ideal for deep wilderness adventures. Only note is that it is quite heavy since it is metal. That is not an issue for me, but I have known avid backpackers that are always interested in the lightest weight items to carry, so that may be something to consider.

★☆★ NEVER LOSE YOUR WAY ★☆★
A truly one of a kind compass that is heavily protected by its outter shell, like a military armour. Is a bit on the heavy side, which makes it quite durable. This would make a great gift for that avid adventurer outdoorsman/woman or someone that likes to collect timeless pieces such as this. It fully opens to a full compass and the other end has a scope. It has a string attached to be used to wear around the neck, but like I previously mentioned, it's a bit heavy. The canvas case holds it quite well with velcro fastener, and it has a loop on the reverse so you can thread it through a belt. I would order again, and do recommend.

Surprisingly rugged compass
I was really impressed with this compass. It's been awhile since I've held a quality compass in my hands, and it was a great opportunity to teach my two young boys how to use one while we were out camping. Only down side I'd say is perhaps it's too rugged? If only because it's a little heavy compared to an obviously cheaper alternative. Not really a bad thing honestly depending on your needs, but keep it in mind if you're packing light for a hike. Really though, you'll be comfortable knowing that this thing would likely last a tumble down a rock ravine and be no worse for wear.

A "bombproof" compass that gets it done, but it's HEAVY
Since my time in the military as a S.E.R.E. instructor, I've enjoyed working with a compass and teaching land nav. When I had the chance to pick this up and add to my collection, I had to jump on it.The first thing you notice about this compass is its weight, and there's a reason for that. This thing is "bombproof." If you need a hammer when you're out and about, this would probably be the first thing to come to mind. That said, that level of durability comes with a price - it is HEAVY. If you're a hiker or backpacker concerned about the ounces, this compass probably isn't for you. You'd be well off with a good old plastic Boy Scout orienteering compass that will work just fine. But if you need something that will still work after falling off a cliff, this is probably it. :)If you're familiar with the military lensatic, then you'll be right at home with this one. The sight is a little lower than I like, but it still works. The bezel doesn't have the "clicks" you'd expect of the lensatic, but it's something you can work around. The inclinometer works well and is also removable if you'd prefer not to have it. The different scales on the edge of the compass are handy - I checked it against a Topo map for my area, and it's fairly accurate.Overall, this is a decent compass that will get the job done. I just took off one star for the weight - just a bit too heavy. You'll also want to familiarise yourself with it in a familiar environment first before you set out on a hike in unfamiliar terrain (good advice for any piece of equipment, but especially a compass). My recommendation - a good buy.

I was not expecting this quality...
I was very suprised by this compass. And even if you dont want the clinometer on there. Its removable with 2 small phillips head screws. But this compass has a very solid all metal body construction. Its bezel ring (even though it sticks slightly out on the sides) is very difficult to turn. Wich is a good thing... If you want to set a bearing and know that dial has not moved while you were walking. Wich i often do. The prismatic peep site works great. Its very easy to line up and get the bearing of an object or terrain feature. The instruction manual could have been a bit better. At least pointed out the parts and features of the compass instead of simply listing them. And a glow in the dark dial would have been a nice feature... but i dont often navigate at night anyways. The pouch seems a bit on the cheap/thin side. But it gets the job done. No real complaints there.Also. The clinometer works excelent. Ive had clinometers inside the compass before. And they were always sticking. And inaccurateThe compass is quite acurate as well. Provided there are no metal or magnetic objects nearby. All in all i feel like i finally have a quality compass. And i own quite a few. Both baseplate and lensatic/prismatic Styles. For the price. I think this is a great buy. 👍
