The tea bowl has a shallow conical shape allowing the tea to cool up quickly. It's a perfect choice for hot summer season. In spite of the fact that the bowl looks almost weightless it's steady enough to put it safely on the table. The upper part of the vessel and its inner surface are covered with famous crackle glaze. This effect is created with the help of so called craquelure technique when the glaze shrinks more than the clay. If you continue to drink tea of the same type from the same "сrackled" bowl, the infusion will reveal more and more flavors and hues in the course of time. The base and foot reveal the ribbed clay surface that feels pleasant in the hands and doesn't slip when handling the bowl. Tea is a wonderful beverage which is enjoyed all through the world and there are a lot of ceremonies in all parts of Asia for drinking and preparing the tea. This lovely tradition came to us from China where the tea was first used as a medicine. According to the legend, one of the ruler in the ancient China was looking for medical cures and got poisoned. And a drop of water from the tea tree saved him. Since then tea became popular as a recreational drink and nowadays there are countless traditions, ceremonies and events dedicated to this amazing drink. There are even some superstitions connected to the tea. Did you know, for example, that if you brew the tea too weak, you will loose a friend but if you make it really strong you'll find a new friend. So it is only prudent and just that Asian and especially Chinese ceramics and porcelain teaware is considered to be the first choice when it comes to taking a break from the mundane to live to drink a cup of Oolong or Rooibos. Or a couple.
