It just works
Okay, this is an extravagance of a purchase, but it really is a nice attachment. After losing a favorite T25 but in the lawn due to an in inadequate competitor I sought out the best. A couple of nights' research later and I settled on this Wera bit holder. Sure, it cost more than a set of DeWalt drill bits but, by George is it good ๐ Perfect in fact. Easy to add/remove bits and they are held in securely. The magnet strength is just right: not crazy, but plenty strong enough to pull in bits and hold them when the catch is off. Also, color works well with my Metabo HPT drill driver. I couldn't ask for better. Superb!

I was Skeptical but it Won me over,...Less Bulky, EAsier Operation vs Dewalt (China) Rapid Loader DW2505
In a nutshell: Best all around quality, Best design, Best features, Best quick release bit holder. I use quick load bit holders on my 12v Milwaulkee Impact drivers. The small quick release on the impact drivers are small, difficult to grasp, and have to pull collar out in order to push the bit in. Awkward!! But this Wera quick release loader eliminates binding & makes rapidly changing bits an absolute breeze! This Wera tool is phenomenal & not only easily handles 1/4 shanks, but also the short 1 inch long straight shank bits (e.g. phillips, blade, star, square, etc.) with ease. Previously I used the DEWALT DW2505 Rapid Load Holder but I found it was too long (3inches) and awkward. This Wera is easier to grasp & eject, more precise holding bit alignment and 33% closer to the work for better accuracy, top quality, and smother operation all the way around than the China made Dewalt DW2505. It ejects everything very smoothly. And the magnet is designed to not over power the bit so that the bit slips out perfectly when released. No 'back holding' or tugging to remove the bit. This bit does it all and in a much more convenient, less bulky shorter 2in length vs 3in for the Dewalt. The Dewalt wobbles more and encourages bit walk due to it's longer length & looser tolerances. The Dewalt is also harder to control vs the shorter compact length of the Wera. Precise, under control, and easier to pop off the bit for the next one this Wera has increased my drilling speed, comfort & efficiency. It has eliminated a hassle and made things fun again. Wera is German made and the quality shows. It's an easy one handed operation,...Push in a new bit to automatically lock,... Pull back the collar to release and eject. I have an injury to my thumb and find the Wera collar is much easier on my joints to load /eject vs the Dewalt collar. I will be purchasing more of the Wera K Rapidaptors'. Hands down, this Quick Release Wera is in a class by itself. All of the 5 star reviews were correct. It's a pleasure to recommend a great product that deserves 5 stars with the good feeling that my purchase is helping support a free, democratic country.

Best bit holder on the market.
Over the years I have tried dozens of bit holders and these are my favorite, especially for deck building. They never fail. It works with both types of bits, the short bits and the 2" long bits. The bit stays put. And the bit gets ejected easily once released. The magnet is strong as well. They come in a longer extension version as well. The only complaint is it doesn't work in tight areas, you have to have at least a 1/2 diameter of space around the screw.

Hands Down the BEST Bit Holder available!
I have tried every bit holder I can get my hands on. Every major brand, every big-box special, every one from the Hazard Fraught. There is no competition. Wera's is the best, by 10 times. Anyone who says otherwise is either a liar or hasn't actually used these. Here's why: 1) No bits get stuck. Dewilt, Milwicky, Cryobi, Boush, you name it, I've gotten other brands of bits stuck in their bit holders. I have tried every bit I own in the Wera and NONE of them have gotten stuck, even after hundreds of screws driven on the same bit. 2) Locking. Dewilt's locking bit holder is close, but still jams with bits from other companies (Milwicky especially). Wera's engineering on how their locking mechanism works is flawless. I have never had it pop open on me, I've never lost a bit, and it closes and locks the bit every time. 3) Magnet. The magnet on this bad boy brings a tear to my eye. Some other brands of holder have decent magnets (Dewilt's is pretty dern close) but Wera's holds almost every screw I've thrown at it. When you're sinking deck screws, that makes a huge difference. 4) Size. Most other brands of bit holder are longer. This Wera is a stubby little bugger, which is fantastic when you pair it with a short-bodied impact like the Milwicky Surge. You can get into some real tight places with this thing, which is a huge plus. That's also what she said. BOTTOM LINE: Stop buying other bit holders and just try this one. This is the way.

Exactly what I needed. Just had to try the magnetic one first to realize it.
(Update 7Jan22) I only use the non magnetic model, (889/4/1). I lost it for a short while, and immediately bought a second one. After a year I found it. Now the non magnetic one is on both my impact drivers. (Original review) The SD label on the item listing refers to the packaging. It is the same as this item. (added 2APR2020) This is a good tool. Swapping bits is pleasantly easy compared to the other options out there. You have to fight with the ones from other brands, and then use this item to understand that opinion. The ease of use is so nice, I'm benching all my 2 inch bits and I'm going to use this with bit inserts going forward. I will continue to try to find something that does a little more. This Wera bit holder is extremely easy to use with Milwaukee bits. They pop in and out with ease. This holder is much better at inserting and releasing the bits compared to the Makita version. The Makita is just plain irritating to use, because it doesn't release the bits. The Wera retaining system is very good, and easy to manipulate. The bits do not fall out when the screw is done, like they do in my other magnetic bit holders, (Ryobi, Milwaukee, Makita, Stanley...). I have both Milwaukee and Wiha 2 inch bits, and they are both fantastic. I would like to have a simple solution to make them better at holding the fastener in both downward and horizontal pointing angles. I also have a large collection of Milwaukee bit inserts, and a small collection of the Makita inserts. I have the Makita B-35097 Impact Gold Ultra-Magnetic Torsion Insert Bit Holder. It does hold the screws at weird angles, with the insert bits. However, it is clunky to use. The bits fall out in use and the bits are frustrating to change in and out. I want this part to also hold the screw in position. That would be perfection. I thought the metal ring around the bit might be a rare earth magnet, and slide down to hold a screw in both downward and horizontal pointing angles, but it does not. Dewalt makes a part that comes in a 3 pack, that slides up and down the normal 2 inch bits from most brands, and magnetically holds a screw in place. I will try them out, but I would prefer to use something like this item, that makes bit changes ridiculously easy. The built in impact driver bit holders on both of my tools (Ridgid and Makita) are okay, but this tool is so much smoother, that I will just leave it installed. The search continues. (Updated) It appears Wera offers another version, in line with what I want. It is the 887/4 RR. It has the magnet built into it. I just ordered that one. You will also find the 887/4 RR SB. They are the same product. The "SB" refers to the packaging. I will post a review for that as well, once I have my hands on it. I'm keeping both, if the 887/4 works just as smooth. I have two impact drivers, and it gives me options for both. (Update 24Mar20) I like them both. I recommend both. If you are pulling and installing screws, use this tool. If you are just installing a bunch, use the 887/4/1. I included a picture of all the ones I have for reference. The 889/4/1 is the smaller one of the two with green accents. See my review of the 887/4/1 if you want to learn more there. It has the same picture. (Update 2Apr2020) I've been working on a project lately. I found this, and its friend, the 887/4/1, are very good at holding all brands of bits, even ones that sometimes slide out of magnetic holders. And they hold them tightly. I really appreciated this, as I have one set of nut driver bits that keeps falling out of the other four bit holders I own. Problem solved!

Simply the best!!!!!
Hands down, the best Iโve used. Itโs perfect. Iโve either bought or tried magnetic bit holders from Dewalt, Makita, Bosch, Milwaukee, Porter Cable, Craftsman and multiple China brands and Wera just has it dialed!! If you want the best, just buy it!!!

Great Design & Construction
I have recently become more aware of my 1/4-inch shank hex-bits. Which means I have (for many years) relied primarily on traditional discrete screwdrivers / nut-drivers / sockets /etc. Now, because of the quality, variety and convenience of these hex-bit sets, I have been increasing my tool inventory in this area. This quick-release bit-holder adapter is by far the best designed and functional that I have ever seen. I have even used this as a drill-driver extension (50mm 1.97-inch) by locking in to the quick-release chuck on my Bosch PS41 1/4-inch impact-driver (photo-1 and 2). I have not used this long enough to provide observations on durability. But, I know based on other Wera tools I own, they are rugged as long as deployed as the designers intended. Additionally, I intend to purchase (either) the 75mm or 100mm Rapidaptor Universal Bit Holder, these are also great as an extension for the short impact-driver quick-release chuck. Also, I have my tool budget focused on the Wera Kraftform 816 RA Bitholding Ratcheting Screwdriver as an addition to my tool arsenal. I have added photos of different drill-motor chuck (keyed & key-less) configurations to provide food-for-thought. Worthwhile investment IMHO...

Look no further for a power bit holder!
As Bruce in the other review said, look no further for a bit holder. I too, have been looking for the ideal power bit holder (the longer bits, not the short insert bits). I do believe that this can hold insert bits as well. The requirements for an ideal bit holder for me was 1) small form factor (at most 1.5" of protrusion and not fat), 2) built in magnet, 3) locks bits securely, and 4) tight tolerances (less slop in bit movement), 5) free spinning outer sleeve, 6) one handed bit changes (pull on the sleeve and out comes the bit) and easy insertion of bits. Is there another bit holder out there that fits this description? Believe me, if there was, I would have bought it, especially if it was available on amazon. So far I have 5 bit holders and that's not counting the regular, non-locking, magnetic holders. If you count those I have about a dozen. The price isn't too bad either. One minor con is that the magnet isn't as strong as I'd like, it holds insert bits pretty well but that may have more to do with the locking mechanism. It does pick up screws but barely. I've tried the ring magnet version of this bit holder but that model requires you to have the screw in contact with the ring in order to securely hold it. I do love the fact that when you pull on the sleeve the bit pops out. I no longer have to use one hand to hold back the retention ring and then use my other hand to pull the bit out. Or vice versa to load bits. No more "holding back" the ring to put in a bit. What a great feature. This along with my Ridgid palm nailer (see my other reviews) is a must have for your tool collection. Leave this baby in your cordless drill/driver chuck and you wont be sorry! Now if I can just find a good drill bit set with quick change bases...

Small, compact, built well.
Been using wera products for a long time, from screw drivers, to bits, to allen keys. This attachment was affordable, small, compact, built well and works well with other brands of screw drivers too.

Reliable Bit Holder for Daily Use
After months of daily use in my workshop, this bit holder has proven its worth as a dependable tool. The Rapidaptor quick-release mechanism is smooth and precise, allowing for fast bit changes without any fumbling. At 50mm length, it provides good reach without being unwieldy, and the magnetic bit retention is strong enough to hold bits securely but not so strong that it's difficult to remove them when needed. The 1/4" drive fits perfectly in both hand screwdrivers and power tools, making it a versatile addition to any toolkit. The build quality is exactly what you'd expect from Wera - solid construction with no wobble or play in the mechanism. The holder maintains a firm grip on bits even after countless changes, and the corrosion-resistant finish still looks good despite regular exposure to hand sweat and workshop conditions. While it's priced higher than basic bit holders, the quick-release function and overall durability make it a worthwhile investment. My only minor comment would be that the grip zone could be slightly more pronounced, though this hasn't affected its functionality. For professionals or serious DIYers who change bits frequently, this is a reliable choice that will last.
