Not as expected; runs super long and a hint large
I'll start with...How happy a customer is with their purchase is usually about how well a brand manages expectations. Accuracy is key.COLOR: The brand’s image for the Mari jeans does NOT match the actual product I received. I received jeans that have faded areas in the middle of the legs on the front (see my photo). I also liked Mari didn't have whiskering in the photo, but it does mention that in the text for the listing. I was looking for a clean, fully singular dark shade so that they can be dressed up or down. Fading is too trendy and not the classic look that is reflected in the brand’s photo. Wondering if they mixed up their photos. The back does not have any fading, so that is consistent with the listing’s photo.Note my photo of the inside tag, as it does state the color is transferable. This will likely occur through multiple washes, so be mindful of wearing with light clothing/shoes as well as sitting on white couches. LOL.OVERALL FIT & STRETCH: These were a bit bigger than expected considering the amount of stretch in them. But I do prefer my skinny jeans to fit really tight. The stretch is a true skinny fit all the way through the ankle and allows you to slide it over the heel pretty easily. It’s possible that I could wash & dry them with hopes they shrink, but not sure the percentage of cotton is high enough to shrink enough. Sadly, now that my favorite shaping jeans are never stocked any longer at H&M, I’ve had to start looking harder at actual materials and their percentages in jeans, with hopes to narrow down better fits across various brands. But it’s still such a guessing game.MEASUREMENTS: The inseam measurement is off from what the listing states. These size 10’s had a 31 ½ inseam, which was way too long and unpleasantly unexpected. Certainly NOT the 29” that is mentioned in the listing. I don’t like to roll up my jeans, preferring the elongated, classic look. I'd have to have them hemmed or fold them under so they don't bunch up around the ankles terribly.The Front rise is 11”. A bit higher than the majority of “mid-rise” jeans in the market. I typically prefer the top button area to hit at 1”, or a bit less, below my belly button, thus preferring a 10” front rise. Measurements are another thing I’ve had to learn to look for across various brands, but that’s hard to do if the actual product is not what is advertised or not even stated.The Back rise is 15 ¾”. The back is high, which is great when squatting down or bending over. Good coverage on the back side with these.WAISTBAND: I chose the Jeanie fit over the Angels 360 Sculpt version b/c I didn’t like the interior elastic "ab slimming waistband" on the Sculpt (and wanted more cotton, less polyester). I was concerned it would be scratchy and only cinch the waist and not the ab/belly along the button/zipper area. Well, another surprise! These Jeanie fit versions ALSO have that band (see my photo). It does look like regular jeans on the exterior waistband, so at least the elastic does not show nor look like you are wearing maternity pants. It’s about 1+” wide (same as what you see on the exterior section) but is softer than expected, so not a deal breaking feature. But by targeting the waist, and having the higher front rise, it does not help flatten the belly along the button/zipper area at all like that feature claims.I’m considering returning these for one size down and/or for a different color with hopes to get the classic singular color I wanted.
