It's all my fault...for being an idiot. I go to buy this product and look at all of them on line for sale and I pick these guys. It takes forever to get the package and lo and behold it requires a specialized base. Anybody that thinks they will be able to fashion a tube to mount this in that will plug right into the existing pole holders in your boat are sadly mistaken.The plastic mount pin is undersize and tapered, so it will not work without the base. Okay I'll send it back right and order the one with the base, yeah right. It is an additional six dollars from the refund unless you want UPS to pick it up at your door, if so add another six bucks. By the time you get done paying for additional shipping for the base only it comes out to another twelve dollars. Where does that leave you? You can spend the six bucks and search out a UPS store after you have repackaged the item, have them come and get it after you repackaged the item at the cost of twelve dollars or buy the friggen base that should have came with it in the first place. They are on Amazon with the base for less money than without. To keep from cutting off my nose to spite my face I paid for the base and am waiting again for it to arrive. Getting the base equals the amount of loss I would have taken if UPS would have came and picked up the part. Make no mistake about it, my first inclination was to send it back, get my refund minus the six dollars and never use Amazon again, but it is after all my fault I am an idiot.

This was a great addition to my friends boat. Fit well into his current rod holder mount and easy to store when not in use.

So I pulled up 15lb crab pots with 10 lb of crab works great. I have used it 3-4 times now .

Expensive for a plastic pulley on a stick but man does this save your back and help with stability on a kayak when pulling up deep cages!

My wife and I use these on our kayaks for Puget Sound shrimping and they had no problems with the relatively heavy shrimp pots which were at least 25lbs and 250ft deep. They'll get more use when crabbing opens but I don't expect any problems.
