Forester Log HANDLING PICKAROON 28" Hickory Handle

A "pickaroon"-- Like a "pointy ax". You "stick it into a downed piece of tree-- limb or trunk, and "drag" the piece of wood to where you want it to be. I's all Manual labor"; but the "pointed end" is curved and sharp, so it stays in the wood-- "that is, if you give a "good rap""-- and then you can drag the piece-depending upon its weight and your strength. It works well and it very strong considering it is relatively light in weight. One thing though--Just a FYI-- IT is STAMPED American Hickory on the handle, but the product says "Made in India" on the packaging???

Product was as described, appears well made. I've used it and it works quite well. My only complaint/suggestion is there is nothing on the end to keep your hand from slipping off the handle when pulling heavy logs. A rubber collar or more pronounced knob on the end might help solve this problem.

I never realized how handy this tool was until a friend turned me on to it. Every part of home firewood work makes use of a pickaroon. This one is well made, just the right length and weight. I can't believe that after 45 years of cutting wood for the stove, I didn't use one. I won't even start now without mine close by.

Love the weight design and wood handle but the head wouldnt stay put after trying 2 i went to another brand

Broke after only a few months of use. The head snapped off

I bought it to use to retrieve my wood for the wood stove as many were stacked way too high for me to reach. This made it much easier to retrieve.
