These seem to be very substantial/thick handle covers, fully capable of protecting against the heat of a cast iron skillet. Unfortunately, the covers are too big for our 10" porcelain-coated cast iron skillet. The cover turns/squirms around the skillet handle, making handling the hot skillet very unstable - the skillet rotates in our hand under this cover. I suppose it would do well in a bigger skillet with a bigger handle. For us, though, it's back to the kitchen towel.
