Works as described. Smaller fish get in but can also get out. Crab can’t get out. Only thing is i had to put my bait in a homemade net bag inside of the bait compartment bc a critter was eating all my bait and not getting trapped. The bait compartment could be redesigned to prevent this. The octopus can get in and out no problem.

It was really hard to find a Florida legal blue crab trap on Amazon. Very sturdy and easy to operate, perfect size for me. It said Maryland but it came exactly as I needed for Florida regulation. This will be fantastic to drop in while I fish with my ambush nets or while i fish for sheepshead. And, it came early... Super happy

Doesn’t hold up, the wires almost immediately started bending out of shape both from a few weeks in the water and crabs grabbing at the sides. Crabs seem to escape relatively easily but it is difficult to get crabs out due to the size and shape of the openings. I ended up with a lot of scratches from trying to reach in and a few lost crabs before I gave up.

I recently purchased the inexpensive crab trap for my crabbing expedition, and boy, was I blown away by its performance! But don’t let the low price fool you; this trap means serious business! Now, let’s get to the most important aspect - its catching ability. And boy, did this trap deliver! During my trip, it attracted an impressive number of crabs, making it a feast to remember. I caught more crabs than I ever thought possible, and it definitely made the experience unforgettable.

Used these for Blue crab in VA. They worked great, allowed the small ones to get out and the big ones stay in. Definitely a great purchase. The float is nice but the rope it came with is not sinking rope. I bought some lead core rope to use with the floats provided. If you set them out away from a dock you need to upgrade the rope so boats don’t catch or cut your rope.
