These LED tubes are powered on both ends and they are ballast commpatible. You don't need to remove or bypass the ballast in order for them to work, yet we encorage you to remove it since the ballast itself consumes around 20% of what the tube consumes. That means that if you leave the ballast installed your consuption per tube won't be 18W but around 22W.
