impressive so far
Brilliant kettle - I don't really understand why all kettle aren't like this - it definitely saves energy in its use. AS and when this should need replacing I will definitely buy another. The kettle retains heat very well - If I fill the kettle first thing heat to 70 degrees, and return every hour or so for a fresh cup each time the kettle will loose 10 to 20 degrees of heat - but is very quick to reheat to 70. The temperature heat options (40 -100) once reached then show a red dot to indicate what temp the water remains at - so you get an impression of how much heat has been lost since your last visit to the kettle. Looks the business, read out on the base is super clear, controls are easy, and intuitive. The lid is sealed so when heating to a full boil you get no steam out of the spout - a bonus safety feature! The sides are definitely cool to the touch even when full of boiling water Negatives if you could call them that :- It does pour slowly, but then its essentially a vacuum flask that is also a kettle so the spout is small to keep in the heat. Upsie is you don't also easily splash very hot water around easily. If you do need to pour quickly, simply remove the lid. No window indicator - there is a max line internally pressed into the metal which is obvious - however as the water is kept warm there is no real concern if the kettle is overfilled for the number of cups of tea needed as it kept warm thus I'd say this negative is a mute point frankly.

Excellent Eco Option
First one of these arrived damaged but was replaced quickly by Amazon. Our primary reason for buying this was environmental. It's lower wattage than most kettles and keeps water hot so there is less need to reboil. Quick to boil despite being rated at only 1800w (low for a kettle - our old one was rated at 3000w). The selectable temperature is extremely useful and must help save energy in a house like ours where green tea, which is best brewed with 80 degree water, is king. Kettle can also be knocked over full of water without leaking any, a very useful safety feature if you have little ones running around. Kettle is also very quiet when compared to a standard kettle which is a welcome relief and it doesn't let mountains of steam escape when boiling like a normal kettle does and therefore, perhaps unintentionally, reduces damp. All in all, if you are looking for a kettle which helps protect the environment a little this is a really good choice, only giving 4 stars though as there are some questions about durability and build quality!

Base stopped working within four days :(
Was really excited about getting this as I often boil water and get distracted and have to boil again. It was easy to setup and I loved the features. My first gripe was that flow of water when pouring was very slow and getting the last amount out was difficult (easier to take the lid off). Second very heavy (but will strengthen your arm muscles). If you take the lid off beware as if the water is 100c the steam will burn your hand as the top of the handle has a channel for the open button to be depressed into and this will channel the steam towards your hand. On the morning of the fourth day the base just made a ticking sound and would not work, unplugged and tried again still no joy. Rang Grunwert and spoke to quality control about the failure and was very disconcerted by their lack of interest just said send it back to Amazon, they were surprised as it was a new model but they didn't really give any customer experience (God help the UK after Brexit if this is the future of our customer service going forward). In summary not good design as pouring is slow, failed after a few days and supplier seemed unconcerned. I would still love to have a kettle that kept the water warm, however I'd give this one a miss as it disappoints on many levels :(

Great if you have ADHD
I love the fact that it helps me with my poor task management. So many times I'll boil the kettle and forget to make tea. So having the water hot when I remember to make the tea saves me reboiling. Downsides are that it takes a long long time to boil when you refill the kettle. So not great if you regularly make lots of cups of tea in one go. But you can set it to boil straight after refilling and when you come back later its still hot. You have to tip the kettle quite far to get anything to come out the spout and as it is heave that is hard to do one handed, but because the outside is cool enough to touch you can use both hands. So actually quite good for the infirm who might otherwise struggle. There is no water level indicator and it is hard to see the max level line inside the kettle. So you might boil the kettle and then realise there isn't enough water for a cuppa or two. It seems an odd omission not to include weighing scales in the base to give a precise indication of the water level measured in cups or mugs. It could also tell you if you have overfilled. Overall I'm very happy with it. I'll give it 5 stars because it does what it is designed for.

Nice Idea
I bought this because it runs at a lower wattage, so that our household battery could cover the power used. The fact that it is insulated and has a temperature reading are pluses too for a range of kitchen activities. Unfortunately this is spoiled by bad design. The pouring is bad and often dangerous as you have to tip it so far that the steam hits your hand. Often it reaches boiling temperature without switching off, the reading flipping between temperatures. When that happens, the spout will spit as you press the release button to pour. Now, after less than two years, it has started turning off randomly. Time for a replacement.

Bought this kettle to help me use my solar panels more efficiently. I boil the water in the evening before the sun goes down and its still 40-50 degrees the next morning after 10 hours. Great way to save power. I measured the savings compared to my old kettle, in a week it uses about a third less but crucially it now runs almost completely off my pv system.
