Outstanding book!
This book is a lot of fun with a quirky sense of humour, great illustrations and the CD is excellent. The approach is very much for beginners but even if you know all about 12 bar blues the basic principles are communicated in an entertaining and refreshingly instructive way. As other reviewers have mentioned the way to approach this package is from the CD; the book is just there to illustrate and clarify the techniques. The core learning tool is the CD.Jon will have you blowing away in minutes whilst jamming to the CD and I reckon with a bit of practice sounding quite competent in weeks. By far the best blues harp tuition book I have encountered.

Makes music theory fun! (Seriously!! Ha)
I love the way this mofo describes music and music theory in general, really refreshing to read something so imaginative that really brings music theory to life (which ain't an easy task as it can be bloody boring as p!$$ of a subject!). I even find this enlightening me when learning blues on guitar, in fact years later images the author put in my head to conceptualize sound are still there! Great book I'm currently re-reading as I re-learn harmonica. Super !!

Good Instructional Book
This is a very good book, and Jon Gindick is a very good harp player and teacher. My only complaint is the cd ,it says turn the tone to hear the band or is it balance? one way you hear the band so you can jam .The other way you just hear Jon explaining things. Most of what i have and probably most people these days does not have any tone or balance settings.Nevertheless this is a really good Book.BUY IT.

The best book for beginners.
This is about the fourth book that I bought to try and learn the harmonica and it's definitely the best: I just wish I'd got this one first and saved myself some money. If you're an absolute beginner with no knowledge of music theory then this book is for you and it will take you right up to intermediate standard. The cd is excellent almost worth the price of the book on it's own. Buy it you won't regret it!

Gindick's approach to teaching music theory is quite brilliant. It is so simple and easy
All harmonica books, it seems, see it as necessary to teach you some music theory . Well, this book is no different. However, Gindick's approach to teaching music theory is quite brilliant. It is so simple and easy! I really love this book. It really makes me feel as if I am making some progress. The enclosed CD is also excellent and unlike any other I have heard. He narrates it all the way through, explaining what is going on. Also, the book is backed up by a large presence on the web, including instructional videos on UTube. You will love it also, I am quite sure!.

Lots of good info.
The information side of the book is excellent . But it’s written in a story format, relating to a Stone Age rock band , for me he should just stick to the educational side.
