This is an excellent solution to power cuts which have up to getting it really screwed up my Qnap server. Not only does it provide continuous power but also signals the supply loss to the supported device via the USB connection to enable the device to do a controlled shut down. Being used to support my server, router and telephone base unit. Not yet put the phone line through it to provide lightning protection. Very easy to set up out of the box. Been in operation a couple of months now and has performed well so far.

Steps in whenever there's a power outage, has lasted a long time with the original batteries, really simply to use. I like it a lot. The only reason it doesn't get a 5 star review is that the USB interface feels like a bit of a hack and has caused problems with my Mac (sorry APS if that's actually an Apple problem).

I have had this uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for a year now and feel that it deserves this feedback since it has proven to be very reliable. It has done everything it is supposed to do, i.e. kept my computer system operating normally after a number of power cuts giving me more than enough time to shut down without losing data or causing any malfunction. That is over 5 minutes in my case but that time will be more or less depending on how many peripherals you are powering (I have two external hard drives, an external speaker system and printer). If that is not long enough for you maybe a larger size UPS in the same range would be better for you. The build quality is very good as you might expect considering APC provides a two year warranty period which includes an additional comprehensive insurance policy against losses caused through any malfunction of the UPS. When there is a power cut it seamlessly continues supplying 230V from its battery, giving warning bleeps to alert you if you are in another room. I have contacted the manufacturer via email for information a couple of times and they have responded almost immediately with full answers through their system of customer support which I have found to be excellent. The software package (PowerChute) that comes on a CD provides a number of monitoring and setting options that will suit most users. It may not be the cheapest UPS out there but I would say it is one of the very best for the price, and when it comes to price, cheapest is not always the most reliable, which I have found this UPS to be.

Great product and good value for money

Got from Warehouse deals for £22, so a steal. Good for the week it lasted! Failed after a week, when mains went out the battery didn't kick in, no signs of life. Amazon were great however in returns, they paid the £16 courier charge (heavy!) for returns no problem.

I have this UPS powering a NAS in my once quiet office. Now there is a constant pulsating buzzing noise coming from the UPS. May have to return this one before it drives me insane. Update a day later: I've ordered another brand of UPS. This thing is driving me mad. My office is quiet and all I can hear is a constant buzzing along with a pulse every 5-6 seconds where the buzzing seems to stop for a split second. Don't know if this thing is faulty or not but it's going back.

The BACK-UPS 500 I received did not have a mains cable. Instead it came with two cables to connect IEC (Kettle connector) to IEC. Even APC's website does not make it clear whether it ought to come with a a mains cable; but astonished that it does not. As Amazon supplied there is no "Contact Supplier" option to see if this is an error so have to mark down to 1 star for ease of use and easy to install as I have no spare mains cable! Extremely frustrating.

Power cuts where short 10 mins at most but would have run out of power within 40 mins. When I bought it the bigger one was out of stock but only £20 more. Wish I had waited. but will buy the more powerful one when funds allow.

Second APC que j'achète et toujours le même rapport qualité/prix très intéressant. Fini les surtensions ou les coupures intempestives de courant (même quand c'est à répétition, de nombreuses fois d'affilée), il gère tout et laisse largement le temps de faire les sauvegardes nécessaires et de couper tranquillement son PC. Très bon produit, très simple d'usage et bien dimensionné pour une installation domestique.

Ne avevo uno a cui ho cambiato la batteria dopo 5 anni, questo fa il suo dovere e ha anche il la presa usb per il controllo e lo spegnimento in caso di mancanza di corrente, senza l'intervento di nessuno, un plus. consigliatissimo.

Ich hab mir ein Qnap TS 412 NAS gekauft, und um diese vor Ausfällen zu schützen, hab ich mich für diese USV entschieden. Meine Kriterien zum Kauf waren: -USB oder LAN -Günstig in der Anschaffung und in der Wartung (Ersatzbatterie) -mein NAS min. 30 mins mit Strom zu versorgen Der erste Eindruck war gut, die Verarbeitung und Optik sind sehr gut. Das anschließend er Batterie ist etwas fummelig aber machbar. Die Verkabelung ist auch Problemlos, das NAS hat die USV problemlos erkannt und es gibt auch die Infos wie Versorgungsdauer ans NAS weiter. (die USV steht zwar nicht auf der Kompatibiltätsliste von Qnap, funktioniert aber trotzdem und versorgt es sogar 40-50 mins mit Strom). Bei den Tests ist mir als erstes mal das nervige piepen aufgefallen, was zwar sinvoll ist, aber mit der Zeit is es unerträglich. Nach etwas suchen hab ich die Software am PC installiert, mit hilfe dieser kann man die Warntöne einstellen bzw abschalten. Zur Lautstärke: (Lautstärke ist immer subjektiv) -Wenn es geladen ist ist es leise. -Wenn es lädt oder auf Bateriebetrieb ist gibt es ein hörbares Brummen von sich. Bei mir steht das NAS und die USV im Arbeitszimmer und von der Lautstärke ist es OK in der Nacht ist die Tür zum Schlazimmer offen und man nimmt den Betrieb nicht wahr. (in einen Schlafraum würd ich es mir nicht stellen weil es im Notbetrieb zulaut ist) 2 Mankos: Der Druckknopf an der Front schaltet die USV ohne Warnung ab, eine verzögerung von 5sec wäre sinvoll. Das Gerät schaltet die Ausgänge nach Herunterfahren der Geräte nicht aus, diese laufen bis die USV auf 0 ist. (eingentlich kein Manko da es bei manchen Anwendungen sinvoll ist und für die Lebendsauer der Batterie gut ist) Ich finde im großen und ganzen ist es ein Gerät das ich nur empfehlen kann.

Bon produit, facile d'installation quand on maîtrise l'anglais....mais les câbles fournis et les prises sur l'engin étant aux normes US, il faut impérativement coupler cet achat à celui d'une multiprise Dexlan Multiprise spécial pour Onduleurs avec 3 prises Europa Noir. Il suffit alors de brancher cette multiprise sur l'une des trois prises arrières et de connecter les matériels à protéger sur la multiprise. On notera que la notice d'installation fournie avec l'engin est en anglais et qu'il faut aller chercher la version française sur le CD fourni. Last but not least, s'il n'est pas nécessaire d'installer le logiciel Power chute, il faut noter qu'il ne prend pas en compte windows 8.1.On appréciera la bande collée sur la documentation jaune indiquant qu'il faut débuter l'installation en branchant la batterie Au total bonne impression de départ.
