Very first time useing a spool gun !!
Great deal!!!! I have been welding non stop, almost one whole roll of wire on the same 2 tips. Took some time to learn first and now I am wright at it ! I am using it on 1/8 rectangle tubing over head and joints getting better all the time doing spay weld works good for me and I have tested them and they hold the weight. Using 4043 0.30 and 0.30 tip and wire from my local weld supply store. max volts 10 ++ and 8 wire speed 12 liters 100% argon. 20 amp breaker on heavy gage 25 ft. power cord,! also did 0.35 flat welds on 1/8 inch C channel first to learn. About 50 1 inch welds. 51/2 volt and 6 wire speed 7liters 100% argon with roll sent with spool gun. no matter what I had some black residue .I use a push weld, that's why, but it is cleaner on the drag method. but I am an old dog and find it hard to change lol.

wire can't be deformed in any way
Finally got to use my spool gun. Right off the wire would not feed. I was going to ream the contact tip . I tried the other tips they were the same. Noticed the wire had some kinks. Ran wire until It was new looking. Tried the tip and it worked fine. The wire has to be in pristine condition to feed correctly. It works good. smooth and constant. Surprisingly easy to manipulate. Got it to run clean with no black residue. Now I will see how long it lasts. Looks like it will not take a drop test. You/ I will have to be careful.

I wouldn't know... I can't seem to get a working new MIG 140 to use it with.
I wouldn't know... I can't seem to get a working Lotos MIG 140 to use it with. The 1st MIG 140 had a defective power switch (stopped lighting up after a min or two of welding, then the entire switch went out after an hour). It couldn't seem to handle .035 Lincoln wire (yes, with a .035 tip, yet it bound up in the handle several times. Harbor Freight .035 worked better but still bound up some, (go figure)). The 2nd welder arrived today and it had a faulty trigger switch. I asked LOTOS to test the replacement prior to shipping it, since I had to transport the prior welder to a UPS store. I didnt want to have to do it a 2nd time (obviously they didn't). Ridiculous... If I don't get an extended warranty with the THIRD welder, I will be returning everything. Will update this review...Update - Today, U-welding first advised the welder had a 1 year warranty (I asked her to confirm), then I was told there wasn't, and that I'd be responsible for an additional warranty. This was unacceptable to me (based on build quality, and lack or product warranty knowledge), so I am returning both units. What a waste of 2 weeks.

Great for the low price, for a Eastwood mig 250 amp.
I can push it to 200 amps for 5-8 minutes before it overheats my aluminum .035 wire. I have to use .045 tips or the wire expands too much when it gets hot and starts rubbing too hard on the tip giving me inconsistent feed speeds. If you have 800-1500 to spend, you can buy a lot better than this. But for this price point, its great and I weld professionally and do a lot of aluminum. It won't run .026 wire as the feed wheels won't grip it. But .030 to .035 works great.I've bought 3 of them and worn one of them slap out. A common problem is the wire finds sharp edges to drag on and then won't feed at a consistent speed which is necessary for bead control. On all 3 of my spool guns I've had to go into them and file off the sharp edges on the barrel and feed mechanisms. Its a really cheap spool gun, but so is it price.

You get what you pay for!
Lotos guns are basically what come with the Eastwood welder systems. I bought this for aluminum welding, as most people do. The initial gun that came with my welder worked ok.. it had it's issues, but it was probably more user error than anything else. It finally broke (dropped it on the spool end and busted the case), so I found another locally that was new. This gun, too, has some issues, but now I'm starting to track them down. First, the clear cover also serves as a brake stop for the spool nut. In other words, if the cover isn't on, the spool nut will come undone and the spool can drop out. The cover doesn't fit all that well, so it's a bit annoying. Second, the drive gear uses a bearing to press against the drive drum. Which, in of itself, shouldn't be an issue, but the bearing is slightly too small (in height) for the drum, so if your drive pressure is just a bit off the wire may work its way underneath the bearing. Not acceptable in any circumstance. That happened twice in one session... and my drive pressure was pretty close to where it needed to be, otherwise the wire wouldn't feed. So.. it's a cheap gun and expect as much. It does work but don't expect to do production work with it.

Wire feeder slipping
Seemed to run decent once I got it but had to play with it for a while for it to even feed the wire without slipping. Even after getting it to feed, occasionally it will stop and then it’s another round of fighting it to not slip again for some reason after nothings changed. (All with the wire it came with)
