Kate Bush leaps into action.
'Rubberband Girl' is a single taken from Kate Bush's 1993 album, 'The Red Shoes'. It is an uptempo song with a catchy chorus, and some distinctive guitar playing from Dan McIntosh, who at the time was a new member of Kate's band, and he has gone on to play the guitar on all of her subsequent albums. The compact disc single consists of three tracks. The album version of 'Rubberband Girl'; an extended mix of the same song, which is very similar to the album track, just a bit longer, 7 minutes and 2 seconds, as opposed to 4 minutes and 42 seconds; and 'Big Stripey Lie', another song from the 'Red Shoes' LP.The cover of the CD single features a dramatic photograph of Kate in black trousers and a long sleeved top in mid-leap. The inside picture is just as good. It shows Kate in blue trousers and what looks like a loosened, white strait-jacket. I think her dance partner in this photo is Stewart Avon Arnold, a frequent collaborator with Kate who first worked with her on the 'Tour of Life' in 1979, but his face is partly obscured, and so I am not sure whether this identification is correct.
