Excellent tactics course for U1400 USCF
I posted this review on the Chessable edition 4 months ago.Just like the first 4 books in the series, "Finding Winning Moves!" has well-chosen tactics and the book is very systematic. The target audience is mainly players 1400 USCF or lower, although stronger players could get a lot out of this book by doing speed training to see what basic tactics aren't on their autopilot. "Finding Winning Moves!", in my opinion, is significantly more difficult than the previous books, which was shown by my missing approximately 30% of the puzzles on my first run during speed-tactics (10s timer) training. For books 1-4, I tended to miss approximately 3-10% on my first run, this discrepancy shows that Polgar made the puzzles on book 5 harder, specifically in the "Final Test" chapter. As a 2000+ USCF player, I found these books useful for speed tactics training. I recommend this series to ambitious beginners and those under 1200 USCF. For those over 1500, this series would likely be used for filling the cracks for what tactical basics aren't fully intuitive for them, although the price can be relatively steep for this, so the individual should decide if the book would be worth the price to them.Overall, 5/5 stars. Highly recommended.
