Bonus
I thoroughly enjoyed the copy of this book which I received as a bonus to being on Sandras review panel. The characters were fun and made the story. Who wouldn't want to be able to jump to their own private place of safety.Looking forward to book 2

What a terrific story!
I thought Ms. Edwards pulled out all the stops on this paranormal. It's different, fresh, like nothing I've ever read before...in a great way. I loved Dexter and Ava and the way they come together is anything but conventional. I don't want to give too much away, but I can't wait for the next one!

Inventive & creative novella!
Ava Valentine is a 29th-century bounty hunter who time travels back to modern day New York City to apprehend a criminal from her century. She's been here before, but this time she's meeting a new contact. Ava hates new contacts and from the first moment she meets Dexter Stone, the hairs on the back of her neck rise. Stone is a tall, dark and handsome biker who wears trouble with a capital T with an air of nonchalance. Exactly the kind of contact Ava should stay away from, but what fun would that be? When a rival bounty hunter swoops in and steal's Ava's mark, she's not sure if Stone set her up and if he was the one betrayed? The two are forced into an uneasy alliance. Ava needs to find her mark and Stone needs to help her if he wants to get paid. The story is inventive and creative and moves along at a fast pace. For as many questions as are answered, a slew of new ones pop up. I found myself intrigued with Ava and her heritage. I definitely want to know more about her, but it was Stone who raised the most questions. I would have liked to have more revealed about this hunky soldier of fortune, but I guess I'll have to wait for the next volume to come out. If you like paranormal stories that are smart and entertaining, you'll definitely want to pick up STAKED. Recommended.

Staked A hot commodity
Ava is a timetraveling bounty Hunter from the 29th century , who travels back to modern New York for her latest bounty with her assistant Mickey. She needs to meet up with her new contact for this time; Dexter Stone a hottie biker/vampire who take her to her bouncy Cole. Lucien a fellow bounty hunter and a past aquantace/love interest of Ava steels her bounty and Stones payment. Stone and Ava then set about getting her bounty back and his payment. Ava develops instant attraction upon meeting stone, but fight it as her does not want to be turned. All in it's a good story. Love time travel sections and hearing about Ava's heratage. Bring no the next installment.

Kind of dull
Most reviewers really enjoyed this book, but I felt as if it was rather dull.Too much of the plot hinged on events that were poorly explained. This would be fine if we were a couple of books into the series, but this is the first book. Who is Lucien? Why is he after all of Ava's bounties? The alien themes were woefully underexplained. Instead of the author taking the time to show us two characters falling for each other, we get the old "one look and I knew we were soulmates" thing, probably the most tired device in paranormal romance (wait, there's also our powers combined make him super-powerful -- which also shows up here).I felt as if I was dropped into the middle of a story -- and things never got clearer. A chapter or two set in the 29th century might have helped make this feel like a more cohesive story.

Good, but not great
I find reviews interesting, but don't generally leave one. I don't like to leave spoilers and know I will. I liked this book, but there were areas that I just did not agree with. I love romance books and read almost every vampire book I can get my hands on. I like the time travel bit, but am struggling on how this will end for the couple. What I did not like about the book is the ending. I don't like that she went back to her time and left him. I did like that he can now walk in the daylight, and I get we need a reason to go to the next book. I'm just really struggling with how it could end. I can say this, I will get the next book to continue the story so she did hook me in there.

Just OK
It was OK. Nothing special. I liked Ava and Stone individually; however, they just didn't click together for me. It kept referencing Ava's strong attraction for Stone, and several times her thoughts relayed that she knew Stone felt the same way; however, I never picked up from Stone that he cared one way or another, until the very end. Suddenly his heart was breaking????So many things were brought up with no explanation, and I was just left in the dark. Some I'm sure will be addressed later in the series, but most of it .. well, I'm not sure if they are even important pieces or just information thrown out and then forgotten about.I just never felt a connection.
