I use this every day in my standing shower (not a bathtub), and have for many years. It's worth it if you want to prevent hair clogs and appreciate a quality made item that will last a long time. A few hairs do sometimes slip under the catcher, but it's a negligible amount and they are easy to clear away since they get caught between the catcher and the drain grate. It catches the majority of the hair, and in the 8 years I've resided in my current apartment, I have never had a shower drain clog. It's easy to clean after every shower and keep clean on shower cleaning day. I place mine on its side, leaning up against the shower wall, as to prevent mildew from growing underneath.
