Will this generator (honda eu2200ic 2200-watt companion super quiet portable inverter generator) run a 13500 btu roof ac in a small travel trailer?

I have a 15k BTU AC unit on my brand new fifth wheel and the 2000 watt COMPANION WILL RUN THIS UNIT only if you use the 30amp plug, not the 15amp.  In addition, you need to have all of the other breakers off in the trailer, especially the water heater, and fridges and don't forget the power converter that charges your batteries.  Buy the 30amp RV converter to fit into this generator and it will run a newer style 15k BTU AC Unit.  I did it for 4 days straight while camping last fall in Tennessee using the 2k watt Honda.  Obviously, the 2.2k watt Honda will do a better job.

Does the 30a plug have output when only one unit is used?  (yes, i know it won't be 30a.)

Yes! I use my Honda EU2200i Companion on my sailboat to charge batteries..use the 30amp plug just like shore power..works like a dream and really quiet!

2200i with a standard 30a rv plug adapter vs 2200ic and 30a nema 3-prong 30amp adapter, any difference if i only plan to buy one generator?

There will be some added safety margin to protect against hazardous conditions (circuit overload and/or electrocution) using the EU2200i with adapter since both 120V outlets are protected by a fast-acting 20A circuit breaker.  The NEMA L5-30R receptacle on the EU2200i Companion is not protected by a fast-acting circuit breaker. Protection for the 30A receptacle relies entirely on the Companion generator's overload circuitry in contrast to the NEMA 5-20R receptacle to the left that is protected by a 20A circuit breaker.  Either generator running standalone is rated to output only 15 Amps continuously at 120V (1800W) or 18.3 Amps maximum (2200W) intermittently for a limit of 30 minutes.   Of course, the EU2200i Companion lacks a DC 12V charging circuit and receptacle for recharging automotive-type batteries that is found on the EU2200i generator.

Can I run the 30A outlet to feed my household gentran switch ? - looking to power the oil burner & refrigerator

Accepted Answer

You can supply power to your switch but be aware you are feeding only a "single leg" of power to the switch.  You would need to ensure what you need to power on only a single leg.  If your gentran switch is powering only one leg in the first place then you are good to go.  Hope this helps.
