Mystery, thriller, dark
This gripping psychological thriller masterfully explores the complexities of mental health, weaving a tale of deception, manipulation, and hidden truths. The story centers around Simone Singh, a determined and relentless CBI investigator, who is assigned to uncover the truth behind a series of apparent suicides that, as the investigation progresses, are revealed to be cold-blooded murders.Terminally ill patients have been taking their own lives, and the case is handed to APS Simone Singh for investigation. What initially appears to be a series of straightforward suicides begins to reveal strange, unsettling patterns.Despite the apparent simplicity of the cases, Simone is resolute in her belief that these deaths are not suicides, but murders. As Simone digs deeper into the case, she finds herself battling her own mental demons, which adds a profound layer of complexity to the narrative. Balancing her commitment to uncovering the culprits with her own emotional battles, Simone embarks on a journey that challenges her both professionally and personally. Her inner struggles, intertwined with the chilling mystery, elevate the story into an intricate exploration of the human psyche, where the line between perception and reality blurs, and trust becomes a fragile commodity.

Quite good of a mystery-thriller!
Good read, but could've been better had the book not ended on "..to be continued". The story felt kind of short but content with the plot. The mystery elements in the book are quite predictable, hence would have loved it if the finale wasn't reserved for a sequel. I would also like to mention that I haven't read the book 1 "The girl in the glass case" at the time of reading this review, but the book bears very little continuation from the first book and is a completely different case from what I could infer. So, the book can be picked up a standalone.SPOILER-FREE BRIEF SUMMARY:Terminally ill patients have been committing suicides and the case is assigned to APS Simone Singh to investigate. The cases, initially marked as open and shut have peculiar similarities between them. Simone on the other hand is dead set on proving them as murders. The books follows her story on how she catches the culprits while dealing with her own depressed-self.
