I wasn't quite sure what "fiery" meant...enjoyable story, but lots of sex.
This was my first Lila DiPasqua short story. I LOVE fairytale retellings. I'd had my eye on this set of "fiery fairy tales" for a while now, but I was unsure what the "fiery" part meant. Did that mean Erotic romance? Historical romance with a sex scene in it? Romance with no history and several sex scenes? I had no idea so after someone recommended this particular story and I saw it was only $0.99 on Amazon, I decided to check it out for myself. This story was not what I expected. It is definitely what I would consider erotic romance or a much, much edgier historical romance. The f-word is thrown around, as are various terms such as c*nt, pr*ck, c*m (ew...really hate that one), and c*ck (this is the only one I typically see). Finally, there were juices...lots of juices...I am sorry, I just hate thinking of anything down there as juicy...not sexy. In other words, this way too much for me and I won't be reading another by this author. There were A LOT of sex scenes. Therefore, if you aren't into this, you are now forewarned. With that said, I am definitely a more straitlaced romance reader--I don't even read Elizabeth Hoyt or Jennifer Ashley--so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Now, with the sex scenes described, I will get to the story. There is actually history amongst all the sex! I finished this because I liked the story, which is about an acknowledged by-blow of King Louis. If the sex had been less gratuitous, I would have given this 5 stars. The author includes an author's note about where she got inspiration for her characters and I found it very interesting. In this short story, the characters still had depth. Since this was a short story, the ending did feel a bit rushed and the fairy tale tie-in was only at the very end, but hey, I read it quickly and wanted to find out what happened. The hero's sister was pretty heartbreaking, but all the other characters were charming. The hero, Adrien, has three rakish uncles who raised him and they made several appearances, and the heroine, Catherine has a really funny, loyal, and dramatic maid who finds Adrien to be gorgeous. The characters play a little cat and mouse game at the beginning, but soon acknowledge their attraction and decide to act on it before Catherine remarries and moves on with her life. Catherine is a nice character who has been through a lot of suffering and scandal and has still retained an innocent air, which soon charms the jaded Adrien.Note: for those who are worried about a rape trigger based on the book blurb, it is nothing like that so don't worry. The scene has also already happened when the book opens so you only get snippets of how everything happened and it was definitely consensual.Overall: definitely what I would consider erotic romance, but there was a clear plot, good character development, and interesting historical tidbits embedded with all the sex so if you're into that, this is a solid short novella for $0.99.

I read anything by Lila as I love her writing This book was awesome like all of her others. Adrien never forgot Catherine from their one night together five years prior. Though he was a notorious rake this was one night he never forgot. When he finds her again he wants to see if being with her is a great as he remembered. Catherine is engaged to another but the feelings she had for Adrien cannot be forgotten either. This was a romantic and entertaining steamy story and I could not put it down.

Sleeping Beau is a Great Read!
Part of the Fiery Tale Series (Book 4) – This is retelling of Sleeping Beauty with a twist! If you haven't Read “A Fiery Tale” Series, then you're missing out. I love a good fairytale, after all isn't that the way reading is introduced to us as children. But what Lila DiPasqua does to fairy tales is absolutely delicious! The characters are wonderfully entertaining in these adult tales of love, lust and deception. Ms. DiPasqua gives a little background into the story behind the story (the basis for the tale) and delivers a sinfully decadent hysterical romance. While the book is part of a series, it is definitely a stand alone read.

Loved it, smoking hot
This is the story of Catherine who years ago slipped an aphrodisiac into Adrien's drink during a masked party, had a magical night with him then disappeared. Weeks before she is to get married they are again at the same party and he recognizes her. Out of fear of being jailed for the drugging she tried to deny it was her but the attraction is so hot that they must have a whirlwind affair before she leaves the party to be married. Will he let her go? Will she enter into another loveless, passionless marriage?

Dangerous liasons
This book takes place about 100 years before Dangerous Liasons, and has a far happier ending, but the characters seem to look at love with the same kind of contempt. Taking lovers is normal, loving them is not. This background makes it a bit harder to make romance credible - which is probably why so few modern romances are from 17th century France.I did like this one, though. It was a bit too quick paced and one could have reservations about the ending, which was a bit too dramatic, but all in all it was a charming little tale.

Ending could be better but enjoyed overall
This is my first novella from the fiery tale series and I really enjoyed it.I loved Adrien and Catherine. They were hot together! And I especially enjoyed their interactions. The secondary characters were also wonderful. The ending however was a little dissapointing and rushed. An epilogue would have help but the ending could have been better regardless.Overall I really enjoyed it, read it all in one setting. It was a quick, fun read. I recommend it and looking forward to reading some more from this series.

Well written
It was good. More sex than plot, but the characters were believable and since they had a history that helped with the credibility of the story. I could feel the characters' emotions through the writing, which I consider a sign that the author is as into her characters as she wants us to be. Sometimes novellas can feel like something suffered in the name of brevity, but this was not the case here.
