It's a very good kit, but buy a better battery connector separately
Overall, this kit is great. The one that arrived was painted and decorated with the artwork. It came with a large, color photo instruction sheet, written in common Broken English, and it went together first try for me.The only hiccups I had were that the battery connector wires' insulation melts at a silly-low temperature, and the resistor color bands are too small to see clearly with a magnifying glass. I'm happy with external power, so I wrapped the battery contacts in electrical tape and it will never see a battery. For the resistor issue, I just measured each resistor with a multimeter and put each one in the spot marked for that resistance. I did not think to try my phone camera as a hand lens until right this moment, but this isn't a great kit to practice reading color codes anyway.I'll add that I have good electronics knowledge, and have assembled other kits. I think it's helpful to describe the harder parts of the kit, rather than say "beginner, intermediate, advanced", so I'll describe the more challenging parts for you to self-assess.This kit features the parts values printed on the board instead of an external look-up table that resembles: "R1 = x ohms", and "R1" printed on the board. Of course, you need to understand/learn this procedure to assemble the kit, but I strongly prefer this type. It works without a manual, for a smoother build experience with fewer "check the paper" concentration breakers. As I said before, testing each resistor with a meter will be necessary, but you will want to have a basic multimeter by now anyway. If you don't have one, a cheap one will be fine for this kit.The wiring for the off-board components is shown in the pictures, rather than in a diagram. If you can look at an example and put your wires in the same spots, this will be no problem for you. I think that part is fun, but that's my opinion. The finished product is pretty great, in my opinion, but I'm much more knowledgeable in electronics than guitars and music. The "cheapest beginner guitar+cord+amp combo" I started with was very much improved by the buffer in the bypass position of the foot switch (was even better with a better guitar cord) due to the improved signal to noise ratio, so even without the distortion engaged the pedal was immediately a big step up for me, and has slanted my review. With the pedal engaged, it has a wide range of sounds, from "way loud" to "I can hear the slightest touch on the strings" to huge/useful oscillations that can barely be controlled. My basic bass makes all sorts of high-pitched overtones with this box, as well as sounding so much larger on the miniature amp that came with the guitar kit (meaning that the amp is for a guitar, not a bass, and so this pedal makes the bass more bigger in the sound range that the amp can manage).

I like the kit, but this is not a good first build.
The instructions leave a bit to be desired. You need to pay particular attention to the connections to the two audio plugs and the DC power jack. You may need to walk through them with a multimeter. If you don't have a multimeter and you have never built an electronics kit before, this is NOT a good first build. Other than that it is an excellent kit and it sounds like a Klon. I am NOT an expert and I have never seen a real Klon in the flesh, but I like the kit and I like the tones it makes.

Nice kit. It sounds very good!
The kit was very good, enclosure is very nice. It was a very fun build. i think that it is really worth the money.I checked a comment below about the 47uF on Vref not connected to ground, but it was correctly connected to ground. Shipping took about a month. Pedal sounds very nice.

Missing resistors, decent quality
I’m missing the 27k resistors, at least so far, I might adjust this review if I’m missing more parts. There’s no BOM to check against first, you have to just build it. Quality seems decent, though the parts look like the lowest cost AliExpress ones you can get. Instructions are so so at best. We shall see if it works and how it sounds. No clue what they mean by “sheerness” for the review.

Missing pieces
Came with pieces that weren’t part of the schematic and was missing several necessary ones. Even after replacing parts it still just doesn’t work. The components seem very cheap, so this is the likely culprit. Waste of time and money and seller will not refund or accept returns.

Such a fun build! Great practice with a cool result even for beginners.
Let me preface this by saying I have only ever soldered one set of guitar pickups in my life before I bought this kit, so I am a total soldering newbie.Picked up this kit because I figured it would be a great way to practice and if I didn't completely screw it up I would get a new drive pedal out of it! I love making things myself and am the type of person who loves seeing the components that make up something I'm using, so I decided to pull the plug and pick it up.Arrived when it was supposed to and I got to work. Carefully soldering it together I was able to complete it in just over 3 hours. Probably pretty slow, but I didn't want to make mistakes. Even taking my time though I somehow ended up putting one of the diodes in backwards, and when I went to play with this pedal, I got nothing....I was upset and frustrated, ready to give this product a terrible review, until I compared my board to those others had posted online for me to see my mistake. Painstakingly removed the backwards diode and oriented it properly, would advise someone else to make sure it is right before you get everything together as it gets pretty cramped. I crossed my fingers and the beautiful drive this pedal is designed to produce came singing out of my amp.Anyone who needs help I would strongly advise watching one of the videos of someone making this online before starting. The videos were 10x more helpful than the instructions, but the included instructions were very good for seeing the wiring setup closely.

Good pedal but not for a beginner
Good pedal but not for a beginner. If you can follow the most vague instructions you might have a chance and a good magnifying glass. There is no online website or instructions. In the end they turned out pretty good they sound pretty good the knobs are cheap and most of the parts inside are not a very high-quality. As to be expected at that price point. Definitely sounds better than it cost

Nice overdrive and a fun build,
The Kit came complete. The color instructions, while not the best, certainly help. Building it was straight forward with no major hiccups. I was somewhat surprised when it worked perfectly on the first try. The tone is very transparent and pushes my tube amps into awesome overdrive. Lots of fun to build and awesome tone, can't ask for more.
