Shimano CHAIN HG53 9 Speed 116L GY, Grey

I recently came across this bicycle chain, and I decided to give it a try on my e-bike, even though it wasn't specifically designed for it. To my surprise, it performed admirably and exceeded my expectations. The durability and overall quality of this chain are impressive. Despite not being intended for e-bikes, it held up well under the increased strain and power demands. I've been riding with this chain for a while now, and it has shown no signs of wearing out or compromising its performance. While it's always recommended to use a chain specifically designed for your bike, I can confidently say that this chain worked just fine on my e-bike. It smoothly engaged with the cassette and delivered reliable shifting throughout my rides. I must admit, using this chain on my e-bike felt like a bit of an experiment, but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. It proves that sometimes, with a bit of creativity, you can find solutions outside of the conventional options. If you're in a situation where you need a replacement chain and this one is available, I would certainly give it a shot. Just make sure to properly size and install it according to your bike's specifications. While it may not be the intended use, it could still serve you well.

Brought for my bike as I noticed the gears were slipping, when it came, I made it to the length of my old chain, and fitted, now my bike is running perfectly again, smooth riding and gear changes, it came in all proper packaging, and is definitely a genuine item, very pleased with my purchase, well worth the money

My old chain which I'd had for many years finally broke and so I needed a new one. Shimano have always been a top / reliable brand for me so I chose this chain as a replacement. It arrived quickly and in it's original packaging. As I've fitted chains before I knew the drill: Count the links and match the new to the old, use a pin pusher to remove unneeded links and fit the new pin etc... However, you only get one new pin!.. And seeing as the existing pins pre-fitted in the links from new are broken once you remove them, if you remove the wrong pin you are kind of scuppered! And trying to source new pins by themselves isn't as straight forward as it seems - (one seller wanted about £10 for three pins!) - So anyway, cards on the table I miscounted and pushed the wrong pin! Forcing me to buy reusable chain links to make up the shortfall. But then I've always been an advocate for reusable pins anyway, just make sure you buy good quality ones! But I can't blame the product for my mishaps, as the chain itself is really good quality. A good 9 speed Shimano chain for a decent price. Would buy again!

As you would expect very high quality chain and well coated with lube. I used my chain link tool to join it up. BuT it doesn't come with the quick link so if you need one you will have to purchase this separately

I purchased this with some tight dealines to get bike ready, then i read some reviews which stated no pin supplied. I ordered a pin but could not get it in time so ended up ordering a KMC chain with quick link....only to find when i did open the shimano chain box the pin was included!!! Think the description needs to include this

No split pin.

Quality engineering. Smooth rotation and changes. Made to last. Keep it clean though. I use WD 40, wipe it off, lithium grease spray, wipe it off, done.

Quality component,reasonably priced for a branded item. Unfortunately the part delivered was not the length I had ordered, luckily I was able to still use the part

Ottima catena, per montarla serve attrezzo apposito smagliacatena, non ha la falsa maglia, arriva smagliata con il pin da inserire. L'ho montata su un 9v deore ed è perfetta! Consiglio una pulizia approfondita del grasso di conservazione prima del montaggio o del primo utilizzo perché oltre ad essere super appiccicoso e sporcare la trasmissione potrebbe inficiare la capacità di trazione facendo scivolare la catena sui denti dei pignoni più piccoli.
