prepare to cry, laugh and fall in love
I never make reviews but this book deserve it. had me crying like a baby for a moment and the next second had my laughing out loud. Is very touching, romantic, the banter is good, the main characters is great, there is a little smut, I would like more, the way this book works makes you want more, I would keep reading their story for another 600 pages. I wish this book was longer. 5 stars, 1 chilly pepper, and 5 crying your eyes.

I Want this Life
A must read. This book had be laughing out loud. Page after page this book did not disappoint. Loved all of the characters, especially Harry who has a Asperger 's. His frankness created some hilarious and awkward moment. Flint and Elle trying to hide their sexual interludes create some laugh out loud moments. The sex was steamy. There are moments that will tug at your heartstrings.

Characters balanced each other out perfectly
I think I'm officially team #jeweleann. I don't know why I hadn't read her books until this year, but I'm on board and it seems I just may read anything she writes.Look the Part is a standalone romance (that is a very slight spin off from previous books) featuring 2 characters that couldn't be more different. Hello opposites attract with some Grump and Sunshine!Jewel E Ann comes out, heart blazing with a prologue that was heartbreaking. I thought I was going to get a rip my heart out emotional book, but I got something a bit different. And it was perfect. From beginning to end, the characters and all their nuances pulled me in and didn't let go.Flint is a single dad to Harrison who is on the spectrum. He lives, or rather barely lives his life day to day strictly to survive and to give Harrison the best life he can. He lives life very heavily and pretty much by the book. After the prologue, I understood why, but it was no way for someone to live. I liked his relationship he had with his assistant Amanda. He may have fired her each day, but she knew the deal. He couldn't live without her and her sassy, sarcastic self (I wouldn't be mad to get her story at some point).Enter Ellen. The newest tenant in his work building. Before the ink dries on her lease, he wants her gone. She's a music therapist and her all around noise and goodness basically interrupts Flint's life like no one else has before. Needless to say, Ellen doesn't give up and she keeps on being herself. After all, you only get this one life to live and she "wants this life". Her relationship with Harrison is what stole the show though. They have a connection that defies anything that Flint has seen before. He allows her to call him Harry and they connect over music and rats. Yes, rats. These three main characters gave me laughs, baggage and flaws. All true to JEA fashion. This book just had it all. From the emotional start to the continuous laughs throughout, to watching the characters unload their messy pasts, you are fully gripped to the characters and their journey to find happiness. There were a couple side characters that had minor parts and their interactions with the main characters kind of bugged me, but overall this book was the perfect balance of humor and LIFE. Well written, good pacing with wonderful characters that made the story that much more special and unique. Opposites do indeed attract and balance each other out making for a great romance book that I totally recommend.4+ stars

This will be my #1 read of the year!
6 AMAZING STARS!Look the Part starts off with a huge bang, in the form of a heartbreaking tragedy that sets the tone of the story, in this emotional read. Itās going on my Top Read list and Iām almost one-hundred percent certain it will be my #1 book of the year. Those of you who are movie buffs might recognize the quote from Steel Magnolias āLaughter through tears is my favorite emotionā and it describes this amazing story āto a Tā.Fair warning: youāll need a box of tissues handy while reading this angsty, beautiful story. Itās filled with laugh out really loud moments, so beware! The levity, thankfully, lightened the story a little so as not drown us in unbearable sorrow. I loved this story and I wish I could convince each and every one of you to take a risk, with your tender hearts, and read it. The most honest praise I can give this story is that I felt an emotional connection with the main characters; they had such incredible fortitude and they left me awestruck. The secondary characters were just as important and added so much to the story; I loved each and every one of them. I felt as if in mourning at the end of it, and despite the incredible epilogue, I was truly sorry to say goodbye to everyone.Flint Hopkins is a successful attorney raising his son, Harrison, after losing his wife. Heās been consumed by terrible guilt for the last ten years and doesnāt have a life outside of taking care of his son. Harrison has Aspergerās Syndrome and Flintās a hands on parent. He changed Harrisonās diet and tested him for allergens, all things Flint swears has helped him be a well-adjusted, fairly ānormalā twelve-year-old.Flint owns the building his office is located in and when he has a vacancy above his office he rents it to Ellen āElleā Rodgers, a music therapist. Flint thought the attractive redhead was a little strange, she kept humming when discussing the terms of the rental, but her references checked out. As soon as she moves in he realizes the loud sounds he finds disturbing are coming from her office and decides this is not going to work for him. When he tells her heās evicting her, giving her two-weeks notice to move out, Elle is not pleased at all. His secretary, Amanda, is also surprised at his reaction.āShe's a music therapist, Flint. Please tell me you assumed music would be involved? Otherwise, I'm embarrassed for you.āBang...Bang...Bang...Bang...Bang...BangāThis isn't going to work.āāBut seriously...you have to tell me what you thought a music therapist does.āāComfy sofas and relaxing music played through noise-cancelling headphones.āShe smirks āYou should have done an internet search. Lots of videos showing exactly what happens at a music therapist's office. I'm a little surprised this one slid by you.āElle is upset the stern looking Flint is evicting her, and decides she should fight the eviction, or just ignore it. He canāt be serious, can he? After meeting Harrison, this unlikely pair forms a bond over music, something Flint canāt ignore. Although heās serious about her moving out he begins to spend more time with Elle, and they grow closer and closer together, until they canāt deny the attraction."And you're the first breath of oxygen that's touched my lungs in ten years," he whispers in my ear. This story! I just finished it and Iām going to reread it, just to savor the words, again. Thereās a HUGE surprise in the story and I hope no one spills the beans so you can enjoy it as much as I did! Every single character in this book is amazing **sigh**

Five Musical Stars
It never stops being an absolute thrill reading an author for the very first time and falling in love with their every word page after page. The beauty of Jewel E. Annās writing and the detail with which she renders her characters took my breath away time and time again, weaving a story that is sexy, funny, sad, and everything in between, and entirely impossible to put down. I read this book in my bed, on the bus, while leaning on a shopping cart in the middle of a busy supermarket, and even once in the shower because I justĀ couldnātĀ stop. Itās a story of opposites attracting, of secondĀ chances at finding love and happiness, of forgiveness, of family bonds, of pet rats, of life giving us exactly what we need even when we donāt think weāre ready or deserving of it, and while it might have been my first time readingĀ this author, I am now the proud owner of her entire back catalogue.Former football player and later agent for one of NFLās hottest quarterbacks (story told inĀ One), Flint Hopkins is now a successful attorney, a widower, and dad to a mildly autistic twelve-year-old boy. His entire life revolves around his work and raising his child, needing absolute control in every aspect of his daily life in order to chase his demons away and not let himself drown in guilt and regret. Because for the past ten years, Flint Hopkins has believed that he lost his right to happiness the day he killed his wife in a drunken car accident.Flintās carefully controlled life is thrown into disarrayĀ when a young music therapist rents the space above his office, the imperfect silence of his thoughts suddenly replaced by the sound of drums, singing, and his new tenantās effervescent personality. Ellen Rodgers comes into his life like a whirlwind, stirring in him an unexpected storm of conflicting emotions and desires. She hums, she laughs, she touches freely, and she voices her every emotion, thawing the ice around Flintās heart one tie tug at a time.Desperate to evict her and return to his bongo-free life as soon as possible, Flint uses his cool, detached demeanour to keep their relationship solely professional, but the more he pushes Ellen away, the deeper she gets under his skin, making him wonder whether he might be deserving of a second chance after all. And then a whole bunch of other crazy, wonderful stuff happens to them which Iām not going to spoil for you at all.In Ellen, the author crafts one of the most lovable yet complex female characters Iāve ever had the pleasure of encounteringāa perfect counterpart to Flintās joyless oneāand as she shares her story slowly, gently, we fall in love with her long before all the details from her past come to the surface to pull us in even deeper. We are drawn to her exuberance, her honesty, her joie de vivre, and her spirit. She is the yin to Flintās yang, balancing his darkness with her sparkle, and by loving him so unreservedly, for the first time in a decade, he begins to believe that he might be worthy of the life he got to live. The whole story comes together under Jewel E. Annās exquisite prose, separating itself from the rest with its snappy dialogue, and the depth of emotion present in every single interaction between the characters, often communicated with so few words. I laughed, I hummed along, I even shed a tear or two, and I already cannot wait to read this book all over again.

Humorous, emotional and insightful. Perfect!
This book doesn't just look the part, it's perfect. It delivers everything I adore in a story. It's humorous, it's emotional, it's insightful and where necessary it doesn't pull its punches. Flint Hopkins has a lot to feel guilty about. However, even though we are shown his arrogance, his weakness, which in the past led him to making a catastrophic decision, I was never able to dislike him. Perhaps it's because this author is exceptional at telling it like it is, yet allowing her characters to redeem themselves in other ways, in ways which seem real and justified. Years of regret have understandably taken its toll on Flint and it will take someone special to break through his dour exterior. There's no doom and gloom here, however, and chapters from Flint's point of view had me giggling as they show us that he's not completely shut down. His surly manner is wonderfully balanced with the humour of his gloriously funny secretary Amanda and his interactions with his son Harrison. Harrison is a sweetheart. I love his honesty and forthright approach to life. His personality and manner are clearly something which have been written with care and thoughtfully executed.Flint has met his match in Ellen. I have to say I want to hug this author for creating the beautiful soul that is Ellen Rodgers. A music therapist she is kind and intelligent, witty and tenacious and full of life. She is all these things without being sickly sweet. She's had her own share of heartache but hasn't allowed this to weaken her resolve. When life challenges her, she rolls up her sleeves and gets on with it. She is a joy to read and I love her. One of my favourite book heroines ever.Look the Part is a beautiful story about regret and forgiveness, redemption and second chances. I laughed, I cried, I sighed with happiness across the pages of this book and I didn't want it to end.

5 I want this life Stars š š š š š
I love Flint Hopkins that's all there is to say. I loved him when I met him in another of Jewels books - One ( which was fab ) I didn't know then that he had his own story until the end of that book. I was actually going to beg this Author to give us Flints book that's how much I loved him. I wanted to know his secrets, now that I do he's stolen even more of my heart.Flint Hopkins isn't perfect he's flawed and very closed off. Yes he's made mistakes he lives with the tragedy everyday. That tragic night cost him dearly and almost destroyed him. The only thing keeping him going is the love for his son Harrison.Flint isn't looking for love he doesn't think he deserves it.Looking after his son has been his only priority for such a long time. That is until a beautiful redhead rents a property from him and she gets under his skin like no other woman has for the past 10 years.Ellen Rodgers I have huge love for this woman she's a music lover with a penchant for pet rats. I liked her quirkiness straight away. She's a breath of fresh air for Flint. She challenges him and makes him wish for things he never thought he'd want again. There's also the bond she has with Harrison that Flint can't ignore, his son doesn't form emotional attachments easily but it seems he has to this Music Therapy teacher.I loved everything about this story it's a very captivating emotional journey. Once I started I couldn't put this book down. Such a compelling read that put a huge smile on my face. I adored Harrison this little guy says exactly what he thinks but he made me laugh so much. I'd love to see some kind of spin off story with him in the future.Another massive hit from Jewel E Ann. This Author has fast become one of my favourites.

Look The Part
The price of the book at the time was the main attraction for me as to why I bought it but it turned out to be a great read I really enjoyed. I loved that they kept getting caught out in their sexy time that was funny and don't get me started on the crusty wash clothes ew teenage boys enough said on that subject. like Flint I wasn't keen on Ellen's Rat babies.
