Review: private - good condition received, and happy of the purchase, I hope future buy will be as good, nothing else to comment Review: Fantastic start to a great series! - This series doesn't seem to get as much focus on it as a few others do like Gossip Girl, The Clique, The A List etc, so I was really suprised how quickly I got engrossed in the story of this first book and the ones that follow, it has a quite dark underfeel to it with mysteries and also the Billings Girls can be truly terrifying. At the same time though, you can understand why Reed would want to become part of such a powerful and popular clique. I really recommend this series.

Good read
I was quite reluctant to read this book at first because it's in a series and I was only looking for something to read over the next few days but I bought it anyway and am glad I did! You really get to feel close to Reed and what she thinks about the others. Every chapter brings a new dilemma or drama which somehow Reed always gets sucked into. The only draw back about the book is that it leaves you on a cliffhanger which is usually great but personally I think it ended too soon and was too short. I understand that it is a book in a series so they will want to add some mystery at the end so you'll want to read the next book but I prefer a book to end calmly and happily, without thousands of questions left unanswered. I hope you give the book a go and found my review useful.

Ok
But too many editorial mistakes. Mainly predictable plot but an easy read. Probably won't continue with the series. Enjoyed the 'it girl' series more.

Private book review
I think that this book was great! one of my favourite books and i can't wait to get the next 4 in the series! Reed Brennan is a 15 year old sophomore and has received a scholarship into one of the best schools in the country. She longs to be a billings girl, the richest, smartest girls in the school. although reed discovers a lot more to life in billings then clothes and money and feels she doesn't belong. Follow reed and her life throughout these amazing stories.

Private
I love books like the Private series. Bitchy rich girls with more secrets than MI5 never fail to hook me. There's something about that lifestyle that appeals to me -- can you imagine being that rich and privileged at such a young age? I certainly can't! Like a lot of YA boarding school fiction, Private instantly reminded me of something like Mean Girls. Reed Brennan is the new girl at an elite boarding school, and finds herself drawn to a clique of girls who rule the school. Sound familiar? Noelle, Ariana, Kiran and Taylor are an odd mix, yet they seem to fit like they've known each other all their lives. They're mean, intolerant and stuck-up, and rule Billings House like Gossip Girl's Serena and Blair rule the Met steps. Not much happens in this book on the scandal side of things, but it's a great start to the series and sets things up nicely. Love interests are introduced, loyalties are tested, and Reed realises her happiness at Easton Academy lies in the hands of the over-privileged. Kate Brian may not have a prize winning book on her hands, but what she does have is a very entertaining, addictive series that fans of Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars will fall in love with. If you're looking for a light, easy read that will leave you intrigued, put this book on your list. It's well worth a try!

Simple and very plain.
I started to read this book on the pretense that it may be similar to gossip girl (The TV series not the novels). However, I didn't nearly enjoy this book compared to that series. I found the writing a little to simplistic and the characters were too underdeveloped to my tastes and so I found I was forgetting the characters and found it difficult to get hooked.

I started buying the Private series for my 12 yr to read. I must say she loves this book. After finishing the 1st book she could barely wait for the 2nd one to come in the mail. I went ahead and ordered the 2nd & 3rd at the same time. She loves it and has a very hard time even putting it down. Great choice for middle school to early high school age girls

Sadly I found this book chopped, ended abruptly and shallow. I hope the sequels are better. I expected more, sure.

I keep having to buy this book for my classroom because it gets read so many times it gets destroyed. This is my latest copy to replace the last tattered one!

I know it's a little late in the game, but Private deserves a good mention. Private is the story of Reed Brennan, a girl from Pennsylvania with a pain killer using mother and no life. Suddenly, everything changes when she recieves a scholarship to the elite Easton academy, home of the rich and privileged. Everything seems perfect - until she sees the Billings Girls. The most exclusive dorm with the smartest, most beautiful, most feared girls on campus. Most prominent of them are Taylor, the scholar, Ariana, the good girl, Kiran, the model, and Noelle, their leader. Reed suddenly knows where she belongs, and it's not where she's dorming now. You can pretty much tell by the time you're halfway through Private that it's the first in a series. As other reviewers have commented, it doesn't have a complete story arc. It wouldn't stand well on its own: It barely tips the scale at two hundred pages, there's next to no character development in any of the four main Billings Girls, and it leaves you with a cliff-hanger ending... one I kind of saw coming. However, this all makes me want to read the next book more. Sometimes, first books are so amazing that I get nervous before I read the second, worrying that it won't live up to my high expectations. Hoping to learn more in a sequel (and to see Ariana, Noelle, Kiran, and Taylor get more of a third dimension) is pretty much the only reason I'm going to read the sequel, Invitation Only. Private could possibly be paired with such cliquey girl stories as The A-List and Gossip Girl, but it's not really like either. While they do share a few common threads, Private doesn't have the cover of glamour. Private is more focused on the air of suspense than the fact these girls have everything. It's more like Pretty Little Liars than A-List. It was quite a page turner, I give it that. All in All: A good, short story for fans of Pretty Little Liars, The Lying Game, A-list, and Gossip Girl. The Private Series: 1 ~ Private 2 ~ Invitation Only 3 ~ Untouchable 4 ~ Confessions 5 ~ Inner Circle 6 ~ Legacy 7 ~ Ambition 8 ~ Revalation 9 ~ Paradise Lost 10 ~ Suspicion 11 ~ Scandal 12 ~ Vanished 13 ~ Ominous 14 ~ Vengeance As well, there is a prequel, Last Christmas, a predecesor, Book of Spells, and a spin-off series, Privilege.

I got this because it was free on the Kindle, then realized it was a kid's book. I had a spare hour, so I read it to see what the kids are reading nowadays. It was interesting enough to keep my attention but fantastic enough to be saying, 'yeah, right' to some of the random plot twists that happen in this book. If you're a 12-year old who can suspend disbelief, you'll probably love it. Parents: this book contains drug dealing, alcoholism, sex, sexual violence (a near-rape), theft, cheating, homophobic slurs and pretty much anything else that goes on in a high-school.
