STRONG SMELL AT FIRST, GREAT FLAVOR IN COOKING
This asafetida definitely has a very strong smell when you first open the container. It is intense enough that you may want to hold your breath for a second. That said, once it is used in cooking, it does not make the food smell bad at all. Instead, it adds a really nice garlicky, oniony depth of flavor that I have come to enjoy. A little goes a long way, so the container lasts a long time. It blends well into dishes and adds that savory note you cannot quite place but definitely notice when it is missing. If you are familiar with hing, this is exactly what you would expect. Overall, despite the strong odor out of the package, this is a great spice to have in the kitchen. The flavor it adds to cooked food is excellent, and I enjoy using it regularly.

I was unfamiliar with this until I read about it. It's worth buying, It's true that a little goes a long way. Keep it sealed up, no fridge.

Potent but versatile
Okay, this stuff isn't for the mild of heart. It has a unique scent which might be off-putting to some. But after my initial hesitation, I find that I'm using it a lot more than I thought I would. This is good in just about everything. I've put it on eggs, tofu, and even in soups. It is like onion and garlic had a baby and named it Asafetida. I'd encourage you to give it a try if you want to try something a little different. It isn't just for Indian food.

Really enjoyed the flavor
From everything I've read about Asafetida, only a pinch is needed. This brand says it's pure, but I had to use much more to get the flavor. I am trying the pure resin next to see if there is a difference. If it is the same, I will update my post

I like te
I read that turmeric is good for you so I decided to buy this. I drink a glass of warm almond milk and a teaspoon of turmeric with a pinch of black pepper before bed. It seems to help me sleep. The taste isn’t bad either. I really haven’t noticed any difference in how I feel but it is supposed to be healthy so I will see how it works long term.
