Lumitusi Micro USB + Solar Rechargeable Heart Projection Night Light

The item came nicely boxed, however the item slightly differs from the picture in the listing. I expected a pale blue whale with a matt plastic finish but what arrived was a dark blue shiny whale. The plastic appears a bit cheap and fragile. The whale has 3 colours, blue, green and orange. Blue and green are nice and bright but orange is very dim and not really usable as the stars are blurred. The batteries I am using are new so that is not the issue. My daughter has a cloud b ladybug nightlight and the quality of that is far superior. I am however, keeping this as my son likes the cute look of the whale (so do I!) and he uses the blue setting which works fine.

Nice night light. The stars are bright and the fading mode is nice - colors change at a good rate, unlike some other options out there. The light itself looks good and no physical on/off button means there are fewer things to break. Unfortunately, it's a bit hard to find the on/off spot in the darkness. That said, still solid four stars!

Update 3: (19Apr16)With daily use, a year and a half later this is still working perfectly.Update 2: (11Sep14)We are almost three months into using the replacement light provided by the company and it is still working as expected. None of the issues with dead bulbs or movement malfunction that were present in the first item, are present at this time. We use the light once a day for one cycle; I am pretty sure we are getting a week or two beyond what is expected as far as battery life is concerned.My original one star review is below. I am changing the review to reflect my true appreciation of excellent customer service, and will update it after a few months of use to reflect my final opinion of the product.Update 1 : (June2014)I was recently contacted by the company that makes these night lights (unsolicited by me) to see if I would like a replacement for my defective unit. Of course I accepted, and received the replacement within a few days. I am happy to say that the new unit is working perfectly today, our second day of use. I am overjoyed to see that there are businesses that care enough about their reputation to seek out dissatisfied customers and try to improve the customer's experience with their products. Even though I had a poor experience with my first purchase, I would readily recommend this product based on the company's proven willingness to stand behind it, should you receive one of the malfunctioning items. For now I can tell you that the packaging has changed since I ordered our first light. It now clearly states that a set of batteries will last for 15 nights if used for one 30 minute period per night. The automatic shut-off feature is still timed at 30 minutes. The unit has not changed in appearance, and still feels sturdy and well put together.Hate it, want to love it:My baby loves this. If I forget to turn it on at night he will scream hysterically until I come in and turn it on. It is cute and feels solid.Now, the downside.... The second time I turned this on, one of the bulbs stopped working. The fourth time, the movement stopped working and left us with stationary wavy blue lines. We used it twice more and on the sixth use the movement started working again. We didn't use this again for almost a year and it sat on a bookshelf in the baby's room. I started using it again about 6 weeks ago. We are now down to 3 working bulbs and the movement works about 80% of the time. Even when it doesn't move, my toddler loves it. Unfortunately, with only 3 bulbs working, it isn't very bright. It seems to go through batteries very quickly also. I think it would be an excellent idea for them to make it so that there is a 10 or 15 minute timer option in addition to the current 30 minute setting. It is very easy to turn on and off with the simple one button configuration. I think I need to replace it, but am still not comfortable buying another one since this unit started malfunctioning almost immediately. I want to believe that maybe the one we received was a rare malfunctioning unit, but am not currently willing to spend that much money to take the chance. Has anyone else has this experience? I am really surprised at it malfunctioning almost immediately since it feels like such a solid, well-made product.

While Lumitusi is cute, the spinning mechanism stopped working almost right away. I attempted to contact the company, but there is an error and their website won't allow me to submit my e-mail (there is no number listed). I wouldn't order again!UPDATED:A day after writing this review, Lumitusi contacted me via e-mail and phone. They are shipping out a brand new Octopus at no charge. Fabulous customer service! I would absolutely recommend this product not only because it's cute and my and soothing, but because of the great customer service.

Both the customer-posted images and reviews were pretty positive, so we figured we would give this a shot for our 12-week old. Well, the somewhat underwhelming looking packaging aside, the product itself was exactly as advertised. In a fully darkened room, it displayed a convincing 'moving waves' seascape... and it caught our daughter's attention very well. We use it every night now, and purchased another for a friend with a newborn. Maybe as they refine the product they could consider a couple things to help the retail appeal of an already good product; 1) more polished packaging. Many consumers prejudge a product based on the 'OOBE,' so a bit more design work might help buyers in a retail environment. 2) Consider adding some looped soothing sounds. We use our projection unit combined with a white noise generator, and maybe other infants/kids would like that as an option as well.Great little product - just remember to use it in a dark room and your little one will enjoy it!

Looked cool for about the 2 whole minutes the motion worked. I didn't even exchange it as it did exactly what everyone was complaining about...and no, new batteries don't make the motion work. It just sucks. Too bad because it looked sweet when it was working.I was contacted by Robert from Lumitusi in the 7th and he offered to send me a replacement right away and apologized for any inconvenience. Unfortunately, I had already returned the item. However, he followed up with me again and in light of the return, let me know that if I chose to buy a different product, he would include a replacement of my original order free of charge. I am very impressed and pleased that Robert continued correspondence in regards to this issue and I will, indeed, look into trying a different product as soon as the holidays are over. Thank you, Robert, for the time and effort spent in trying to remedy this situation.I ordered the same unit again and it is just beautiful. Why I bought this: Nightlight for our two boys (2 years & .5 years)Verdict: It works very well! We are pleased with it.Extra Details: This nightlight lights up our ceiling very well. I love how simple it is... It does one thing and one thing well. It's a 30 minute nightlight. Our sons love to stare at it as they fall asleep. I call that a success! Great product.Cons: I wish it came with an AC Adaptor so that I didn't have to keep changing out AA Batteries... I ended up using Rechargeable Batteries to fix this issue. Not that big of a deal to lose a star over in my book.Do I recommend this for you to buy: Yes.

Great night light however ours did not do the movement feature which left a stable under the water effect....it was strange. Hoping the next one works better. Otherwise it is made of quality materials...it's plastic but not cheap plastic.Seller reached out to me and is replacing it. I'm really looking forward to it. Will be a great addition to our girls Finding Nemo bedroom. Will update when it arrives. UPDATE: Great seller and phenomenal communication! These people really do stand behind their products and are producing high quality night lights for kids.Got the replacement at the perfect time! My daughter had to get sticthes last week...we came home it was on the porch. She was so excited and when we put it in her room....well....we were all speechless! It really is awesome. The wave feature is gentle and relaxing, the color is perfect for kids not quite a neon blue but not dull either, provides just enough light that they can see clearly in their room but doesn't prevent them from falling asleep. The waves really do look real, it's clear a lot of time and effort went into the design to get it just right. It also has a nice size range of projection! Their bedroom is around 20x15 and when placed in the middle of the room it covers everything including the walls! I wish this had been on the market years ago. We are actually considering getting a back up if the kids break this one and it will be on my list of great baby gifts! The only thing I could ask for is the sound of the ocean built in. When we put it on we all wanted to hear the ocean....we put an ocean cd on for them and wow....again speechless...I'm happy to sleep in their room with this on...If you have a ocean theme room for your kids this nightlight is hands down the best you will ever find! I have been looking for something like this since 2008, so glad to have finally found the perfect one!

My four-year-old son received one of the musical whales from his grandma about two years ago. He absolutely loves it, and listens to the music every night at bedtime. We haven't had any problems at all. It is an excellent night light also. I plan to buy one for my baby niece for her first birthday! :)

My son is autistic and this was a wonderful buy for him. Its very soothing and I have yet to have this product fail, which is great. It actually looks like waves on the ceiling. very cool night light

My grandson alternates between these waves and the Constellation LadyBug Stars - they both turn off automatically after 20 minutes so it saves the batteries when he's sleeping. Both are very durable, have survived many drops! Between these and a sound machine, no problems with naps or bed time!UPDATE - July 16thLess than a week and there is no longer movement for the waves (as other reviewers have mentioned). I'm keeping it and putting it on my grandson's ship swing for him to use at night (indoors) but I bought a different device with wave action for his bed.
