Good shoe for the price point
These shoes are nice for the price point (when bought on sale at less than half of retail). The hybrid leather and rubber sole is a win in my view as it provides the best of both world. An all-leather sole would not last long and an all-rubber sole would feel cheap. The leather is tough as others have stated. So, plan on a long breaking period.I highly recommend using insoles with these shoes along with heavy socks - at least during the breaking period. The shoes will be hard on your ankle bones otherwise. The insoles will raise the ankle bones out of harm way and provide additional cushion for comfort.Last, Cole Haan has a serious QA issues, and I have noticed the quality of their shoes to be going downhill. The shoes I got had some minor defects. I also did not receive the additional laces with my order. I could not return the shoes because amazon did not have a replacement in stock. Luckily, I don't have the OCD to care about those defects and minor issues. The price was right and so I am keeping the shoes.

High Quality, Classy Shoes
I had tried these shoes on at Lord & Taylor. I wear 10's in most cases but this felt better in 10.5. They are tight across the top but that helps the overall fit as you break them in. I think it might be worth the 1/2 size increase if they're anything like me, because I did read several reviews about the tightness. The leather stitching and the bright orange coloring compliment each other very well. I didn't buy them that day @ Lord & Taylor and I'm glad I waited.....I saved $50 doing this online!

neon orange garbageman shoes
first off, the pictures do the genuine article no justice. the leather is cheap (and quite possibly fake) and the orange laces and accent stitches on the soles are burn-your-retinas neon, like a hunting vest. i don't know what outfit these ugly, overpriced pieces of s*** would go with. i tried swapping out the orange laces to see if the brown ones might save them, and two of the metal lacing rivets fell out. THESE SHOES ARE GARBAGE. DO NOT BUY THEM.

Get ready for the pain
I like the way the shoes look, minus the laces. The orange laces are painfully bright and look cheap. The brown ones aren't much better- they're just much thicker and fuzzier than typical dress shoe laces. The break-in period is real. I've been stretching these shoes with some XL shoe trees I have for the past few days and it's improving them, but the pain for the first few days was pretty serious. You will wear these shoes on your face - someone even asked me if I was okay on the first day breaking them in, because I was limping and looked in pain.May return these still, but other than the laces and the god-awful bruises on my feet they look pretty nice. The leather is not quality though, and I would agree with another review that they it is possibly fake. Not sure if they're worth the price overall.

Very tight across the top
These size 9-Ds are snug in overall width well beyond snug across the top. They are extremely tight, and because the saddle design limits foot access, unwearable for me. Not sure the next size up will satisfy the issue. They do look nice.

These will take a while to break in...
Fit: I received my shoes and instantly tried them on. It was really difficult to slip my foot inside the shoe. Once I managed to put it on, I noticed that these shoes will take a while to break in. The leather is really hard. The shoe, however, fits as expected.Design: Beautiful shoes. Really stylish and classy. They will go great with dark jeans or khakis. Also, they come with an extra pair of brown laces, which is great if you feel like wearing the shoes with a more "sober" outfit.Overall, this was a nice purchase. As I have always said, Cole Haan always delivers nice products, which is why I will keep buying this brand.

It was said before....
The shoe is a very beautiful shoe, just like what's been said. Also seems like a very strong shoe, which has also been said. I do recommend that the shoes be stretched for those interested in having a pair. Also, since the sole/heel is quite uncommon, I put taps on the back of my shoes. Either way, they won't be worn every day.

the shoe is extreamly stiff and does not break in easily, and is still very uncomfortable to wear
My husband buys cole Haan shoes along with Ecco and Johnston Murphy for work. These particular shoes have just as much quality as a Macys brand cheap dress shoe. The wood finish on the heel wore off on the first day wearing them, the shoe is extreamly stiff and does not break in easily, and is still very uncomfortable to wear. Cole Haan did not put any quality in this shoe, for $160 there are WAY better shoes out there
