Designed to confuse any fledgling learner
I think this may be the worse French course in the world: success in language is built upon mastering vital, small rules, practicing them, applying them, and then moving on, before blending what you've mastered with other bits. After a while, it begins to form a whole. Just like when you learned your own language at your mother's knee. This book....................does exactly the opposite: It doesn't explain ANYTHING in terms of how grammar works. Right from page 1, it's mixing the concepts of masculine/feminine, est/sont and agreement of adjectives. ON PAGE ONE! The folly just gets better from there.............for example, it chooses the adjective "marron" as one of its examples. Well, "marron" is the most irregular adjective in the French language - it doesn't change with the noun - ever. So when they say "la commode marron" any child would think that the rule for agreeing a feminine adjective is not to add the usual "e", etc. but to do nothing. And the examples used! SO boring........toilets, bathtub, bed, sofa, chair..............beam me up now. Absolutely abysmal throughout.
