What is Shamanism? Here's A Quick Overview.
I knew very little about Shamanism, but started this book with a basic understanding. This book reads like a cross between an informative and persuasive essay, which allows you to get a solid grip of the Shamanism basics. You will hear about the history, current practices, beliefs and more. I did find it highly repetitive at times, but it is a short book overall. At some level, I think most of us can connect to some of these principles in the forms of being surrounded by nature, practicing yoga or meditation, reciting positive mantras, feeling a connection to animals, and more. Other principles or practices may not resonate with all of us. Overall, I find learning about other cultures and belief systems fascinating!

A different read
It was a different read, an interesting one. The book gives you an insight into a different view of life, sharing the pillars of Shamanism, an ancient spiritual practice. It also provides information about the history and tradition surrounding the practice. Some of the practices used are drumming, chanting, or the use of psychedelic plants to create a unique mind-altering experience. Also, in the book, full of information but easy to follow, there are techniques for you to use and find balance in everyday life. I would love to have an audiobook of this, as following the processes would have been easier. I would definitely recommend the read.

"The 4 Pillars of Shamanism" by Clarke is a refreshing and down-to-earth approach to a topic often shrouded in mysticism. Instead of overwhelming readers with jargon, Clarke presents shamanism in a relatable and genuine manner, akin to a friendly conversation over coffee. While the book does touch on the 113 techniques and the concept of spirit guides, it offers much more than that. What truly stands out is Clarke's writing style. She weaves stories and insights that resonate deeply, making the reader feel as though they are sharing a genuine conversation. Clarke's personal experiences shared in the book add an authentic touch to the narrative. This book isn't just for those on a spiritual quest. Whether you're simply curious, seeking a fresh perspective, or have been on a spiritual path for a while, Clarke has something valuable to offer. "The 4 Pillars of Shamanism" transcends being a mere guidebook; it serves as an invitation to explore and connect on a deeper level. If you're in search of something that combines depth with a down-to-earth approach, this book is a must-read. One of the most commendable aspects of the book is that it doesn't impose any particular opinion on the reader. It truly feels like a conversation, encouraging open-mindedness and critical thinking. While it may not lead me to personally practice shamanism, it undoubtedly opens doors for thought-provoking discussions, which I highly value in any book. Additionally, the book's brevity is a plus. It's a quick read, making it accessible for those who don't want to commit a significant amount of time to explore an unfamiliar topic. "The 4 Pillars of Shamanism" serves as a wonderful introduction, leaving readers with food for thought and a newfound appreciation for a fascinating subject. Clarke has truly excelled in presenting shamanism in a relatable and thought-provoking manner.

Shamanism and the figure of shaman are a return to ancient traditions, in which the human being is placed at the centre, with the aim of regaining his equilibrium in full respect of the surrounding nature. The human being is an integral part of nature, he cannot exist outside it. This is a concept that has been lost over tima and has caused quite a few problems to our health, to our ability to relate to the world around us and to our authentic needs. In this good book we find explained the 4 pillars on which shamanism is based and 113 techniques for beginners for harnessing the potential within us with shamanic rituals. A book very interesting.
