This, like all of the Talk to Me in Korean books, is fabulously helpful and informative while being pleasantly, even joyfully designed.Hanja, as many learners will attest, is the secret sauce to jump-start vocabulary learning because it connects words to their meaning. Given the fact that a great deal of Korean vocabulary comes from Chinese, learning hanja is perhaps the biggest secret to rapidly gaining vocabulary knowledge and retaining that knowledge in the long-run. Because knowledge of hanja relies on root words and not gimmicks the words you learn are much more likely to stick. It is analogous to learning Latin and Greek roots for English words. Not only did doing so help me ace the SAT in high school, but that knowledge has allowed me to rapidly and accurately deduce the meanings of thousands of English words then and now.It must also be said that this book sports a lovely design that is easy on the eyes while being remarkably easy to follow. I would even go so far as to call the design joyous, in the Marie Kondo sense that it sparks joy. This goes for each of the dozen TTMIK I have purchased.Learning hanja is an absolute must if you wish to truly master Korean vocabulary. If you already know some Japanese or Chinese, it will be that much easier. And this book is probably the best way to get started.As the title indicates, this is the first level of learning hanja and contains maybe 100 characters (I haven’t counted). What will be really valuable from this book is gaining an appreciation for the importance of hanja, learning commonly-used characters found in dozens of words each, being able to break a hanja character down to its radical components, and learning how to use the root in the context of a complete word and then in a sentence.I really hope they come out with an intermediate level book. Until then, the information, skills, and habits you gain from this book will serve you extremely well.

What an amazing find - I love the review of Hanja along with learning ways to use the root word together with other words. I have a background in Chinese language so this was awesome to have to learn Korean ! The information is also presented in a nice readable organized format. Looking forward to learning more from TTMIK series

Just starting this book but so far its very well explained and has the audio files online to hear as you go through the chapters! Second book I bought from this company and love them! Will be buying more from them! Recommended intro book to Hanja!

The Talk to me in Korean team has never delivered a subpar Korean textbook, this book introduces the fundamental hanja most commonly used in spoken Korean, gives clear, concise explanations delivered with beautiful graphics elements

The book is amazing but there was a scratch that was pretty visible if you turn your light apart from the physical damage the book is more like a dictionary it shows like 5 hanja and does a mini quiz its extremely simple and would recommend if you like simple learning books

It's a very good introduction to hanja. It really helps with Korean vocabulary.

This is an excellent study guide (something I’ve come expect from TTMIK). The information is well organized and easily accessible. For beginner Korean language students who suspect a common meaning from certain syllable blocks, this is a quick way to check it out and get a deeper understanding of the language.

Vraiment les cours TTMIK sont archi complet et se déclinent en plusieurs support, vidéo, livres, pdf, soundcloud, c'est magnifique. Ce livre de Hanja est très intéressant c'est comme si on apprenait le latin ou le grec pour comprendre l'étymologie des mots en français.Les professeurs de TTMIK sont très disponibles sur twitter et autres réseaux, vraiment c'est motivant pour continuer à apprendre le Coréen avec plaisir.Par contre les cours sont proposés en anglais, il faut donc être anglophone pour comprendre les explications.화이팅 !

Inhaltlich top! Wie nicht anders von ttmik zu erwarten.Leider kam das Buch beschädigt an. Ein großer Knick einmal über das komplette Cover, mehrere zerschundene Ecken und Kanten, und sogar Dreck am Buch. -.- Sowas muss doch nun wirklich nicht sein. Da hätte ich es auch gleich gebraucht kaufen können.The content is great! As expected from ttmik.But sadly the book looks secound hand when it is actually new. Giant kink spreading over the entire front, damaged corners and even dirt?!Why even bother to buy a NEW book when that's what you get?But in the end it's still a great help to improve your korean knowledge.
