Humans are not from Earth: a scientific evaluation of the evidence (2nd Edition) Kindle Edition by Ellis Silver This was an enjoyable, thought provoking book. Dr. Silver lays out each of his arguments carefully and presents his evidence. He also more than adequately gives us end notes to look at. Unfortunately, and this is so not the author's fault, the new Amazon scrolling system makes it hard to look at the end note and get back to where you were in the main text. The breadth of his knowledge is amazing and they depth that he argues to his point with that knowledge bowled me over. He was able to continue the line of thought of the Earth environment and oxygen aren't necessarily healthy for us by using the gas mixture deep sea divers use right after using the First Great Die Off that was caused by bacteria that emitted too much oxygen. No matter how far or deep he reached to present evidence, Dr. Silver's presentation was simple to follow as well as prepare questions. Those questions were sometimes answered, even though it might take a few chapter and at times, the questions you have hang there, forcing you to research on your own. Going into this book with an open mind is required because if you don't, revelations such as Dr. Silver met aliens or the chapter on the types of aliens might make you give the book a side eye. I am so glad that this was an e-book! If it were paper, all my notes and highlighting would make it a big mess. I had so many questions and ideas put into the notes. It was great that Dr. Ellis covered the objections and ideas that were sent to him from his first edition. Dr Silver is also very kind and welcomes some questions. This is a plus This book is also jam packed with ideas for writers of speculative fiction. With all of these pluses, I can't help but highly recommend the book 5 stars out of 5

"A scientific evaluation of the evidence," indeed! I was impressed by the author's thoroughness and attention to detail. He presented in a way that clearly stated his beliefs and understanding while leaving room for discussion, faith, and admitting what's unknown. It was refreshing. I am a person of faith, but that neither negates my belief in science or extraterrestrial life. After all, God created all things. I'm also not arrogant enough to think humans are the center of anything. I don't know what the answers are, but it's fun trying to learn about them, and this book did a wonderful job adding to my wealth of knowledge! There's so much to love with this title. The concepts are deep and vast. The organization is beautifully crafted with a timeline of events. Honesty is breathed into the words, telling fact from opinion and what theories prevail and why. Credit is given when due, and in all this academia, there's an engaging read. I recommend this book. It has a lot to offer - insight, archeological and biological data, truths about biases in science... Whatever you believe, it's an eye-opener while still being enjoyable, entertaining, and engaging.

Well written and well researched. I really enjoyed the presented concepts that challenge conventional thinking regarding human origins. I've never understood people who blindly live according to socially approved, conjectured and Victorian (or earlier) artificial concepts that rest on unproven and discarded theories. Fortunately Dr. Silver does not appear to be one of these. His research into his topics is exhaustive. Combining the revelations in this book with the most recent discoveries in anthropology, textual criticism and social behavior, one can't help but conclude that for the past several centuries mainstream Western and Middle Eastern societies have been worshiping the wrong texts, the wrong facts and, more disturbingly, the wrong gods. Much to humanity's detriment. The reasons for giving this work 4 stars instead of 5: I was not expecting a dense college textbook (it took me 12 hours to read); I felt that some of the examples he used seemed to be cherry picked and would like to have felt differently.

Say that a bright, confident, talented adolescent who had never spent a minute behind the wheel of a car boasted of being able to drive your vehicle around the block. You let him do so, for some reason. He steps out unscathed and triumphant in five minutes, but the car is missing headlights and trailing bumpers, and your neighbors’ mailboxes and flowerbeds lie in ruin. The whole experience might be great fun if you didn’t own the car or one of the mailboxes. In the spirit of fun, I could give this book a Five... but I also understand the reader who went for One and wrote, “Disappointing.” Mr. Silver’s approach seems to be to take up every challenge on the obstacle course, with rather little concern for how he gets past each. Many readers will be fine with this. It’s interesting, I suppose, to see the dozens of varieties of ET’s rambled off like items on a grocery list, or to see various star systems rated for likelihood of being our “home planet.” My own preference inclines more toward all the nuggets of information about how our human anatomy is uniquely unsuited for terrestrial habitation among all the mammalians around us... and there are many other incidental revelations. Sometimes, I suppose, the straying car might just dig a trench right where you wanted a new flowerbed. But two things nag me about this approach (which things account for the two missing stars). One is that the long list of our incompatibilities with Planet Earth gets very subjective. We didn’t originate here because we’re unhappy?? Isn’t that ultimately a spiritual question—is it not altogether possible, in fact, that happiness breeds discontent, such is the perverse nature of our soul? (I hope we ponder this one hard before we fuse with robots.) And one of my pet peeves is the gripe that our species is uniquely wicked in its love of violence. The people who make that claim always excuse themselves from the general sadism... it’s just everyone else. Seems to me the the causes of war are many and immensely complex, with the joy of mayhem almost never being among them. At least we don’t eat our stepchildren in a second marriage, like the lovable lion. A broader problem is that I fear this kind of scattergun approach to the very controversial issue of UFO’s simply discredits the whole case in the eyes of agnostics. I should like to see a very high standard of evidence practiced in works that discuss the issue—because, again, to look ridiculous on even a couple of pages is to give skeptics all the cause they need to write off every claim related to ET activity. The ANCIENT ALIENS series does the same thing: lots of fascinating tidbits, but lots of painful overreach. I will admit that I have a few pages left to go in the book—and if what I’m about to write is addressed therein, perhaps I can return here and correct myself. But Silver’s claim that he has met two varieties of ET in his experience comes and goes within about a paragraph, and appears never to be revisited. This should be the subject of an entire book, in itself; instead, it’s just another mailbox lying in splinters. Similarly, to assert that you KNOW the reincarnation of souls to be a fact because it has happened in your family is a) a great point of departure for another book, b) not appropriate for this book, and c) not something you should swipe at in a sentence if you feel it really must be mentioned. That kind of thing put a lot of strain on my patience. The book is certainly thought-provoking; but if you really want to assess the evidence available in these matters, you should also spend some time with more serious works, such as Knight and Butler’s WHO BUILT THE MOON or Mantle and Stonehill’s SOVIET UFO FILES.

Very pleased and full of info and insight. Very easy to read. Very sorry there is no photos in the book but the author to reserve all pages for words to place his points across.

I have been following the UFO phenomenon for decades. Dr. Silver did a great job of providing a totally different perspective on the phenomenon other than the usual "I saw lights in the sky" books. I found something in the book that I disagreed with him on and that I believe he did not state properly. I sent him an e-mail supporting my observation and Dr. Silver wrote me a very nice response and said that he would look into it. I would highly recommend the book. Update: I wrote my first review before finishing the book. I just finished it and wish there was more. It is by far the most mind expanding book I've ever read on who we think we are and how we possibly got here. Dr. Silver attempted to take all the pieces of life's puzzle and make some sense of them. He is truly a visionary. This book is a must read for anyone who has more questions than answers about extraterrestrials and their link to humans. Thank you Dr. Silver.

This is a very important subject. However for all those who jump to the conclusion that we evolved on a different planet, consider this: There was a great cataclysm around 12,000 years ago. The Earth, prior to that, was a very different place. It was 1/3 smaller(the continents fit together on ALL sides); oxygen content was over 30%; the gravity was less; the magnetic field was stronger; there was a water veil in the atmosphere; there was no axial tilt, and therefore no seasons. What was it like? A greenhouse, with spring all year round. The light was diffused, and the sun's solar radiation greatly blocked. The result? Everything grew bigger, healthier, and lived longer; and no brow ridges were necessary. Then the cataclysm happened. Due to our use of technology(hats, clothing, etc.), we did not adapt well. Neanderthal being a wild creature, did. Neanderthal, as we know him, could not have evolved earlier than that- because his body was purely adapted for the cold, a condition that did not exist until after the cataclysm. Also, the idea that everything is millions of years old is ridiculous. Consider the dating of fossils. The organic matter was long ago replaced by minerals. Yet they date the mineral elements, which are as old as the Earth itself, and claim that they are dating the previous organic matter! Someone please tell me how that makes any sense. The fossils and rock strata from which they are taken were all formed 12,000 years ago during the cataclysm and flood through the process of liquefaction. This is proved by multi strata fossils(fossilized trees sticking up through layers of strata supposedly formed millions of years apart) and other fossils, such as the ones with dinosaurs and human footprints together; in one of them, the human had stepped on and squished a trilobite, which supposedly pre-dated dinosaurs by millions of years also. A very interesting read and thought provoking. Really makes you wonder about a lot of history, geology, science and pretty much everything we have been taught or told.

El libro como ensayo especulativo está simpático, pero sus aseveraciones están muy traídas por los pelos. Es cierto que en la historia de la Tierra hay grandes enigmas y que hay huecos muy difíciles de rellenar, pero lo que plantea el libro es altamente improbable. Me sobra el último capítulo, que quizás sea el que más deslustra el total, superfluo e innecesario, en mi opinión.

One of the best books, if not, the best book I have ever read! I just go against the affirmation that reincarnation is a fact for the author. The only weak point of this book in my modest opinion. Recommendable for everyone who wants open their minds to the truth!

Love my book. It is PACKED FULL of awesome information. Really makes one think. If you are even considering reading this book, do it!

SAD (seasonal affective disorder). 4. Bad backs. 6. Fossil records – the lack of a missing link. 8. Lack of body hair. 10. Diet. 13. Destroying the environment 15. Chronic illness. 16. Unhappiness and depression. 17. Self-destruction.

O assunto e a forma de abordar do autor são muito interessantes para quem ler com a 'mente aberta'. Deveria ter uma versão em Português, impressa no Brasil, o que diminuiria o custo e aumentaria o acesso de mais pessoas
