The test probe showed voltage everywhere, door knobs, bed sheets, etc. I did not try the plug. Multi-meter was ok. Returned the kit.Update: Seller promptly replaced the defective probe. It works fine now.

Multimeter is most dependable way to determine any wire is hot or not.
All units worked very well although in a tight receptacle box with the hot wires and neutrals close together the pen would read would read a current off the neutral when there wasn’t one.

Very good kit.
Excelent tool it arrived yesterday and at 8pm already resolve a problem to my neighbor about his generator. It is not in the same packaging plastic but thats not important if you buy this type of tools your going to use it to work.
