These work as needed to keep the kitty water clean. Clean active water is preferred by our cats. Replacing the filter is critical to ensure that the pump doesn't have to work too hard to pull water through a clogged filter which could cause pump failure. The clean filter allows the most water to pass through it, and as time goes by, it will get clogged. So make sure to replace on schedule. These fit perfectly in our cat's water fountain, and we make sure to replace them on schedule. Worth it for the health of the cats, and our ability to give them clean water.

Filters work just fine and seem to do the job

There is much conversation about the best-fitting filters of this type. I have two cats and have purchased about 5 of the fountains that use these filters. I also have about 20 pumps. There isn't a difference in the fit. It's the amount of charcoal inside the filter that is different. If you are diligent about cleaning the fountain, there isn't much difference between them, as long as you avoid the worst ones. I clean the fountain once a week: clean the fountain, pump, filters, and water. My big question is which side of the filter faces up. That is the big question. I know that is what the documentation says, but I don't know if it's true. Anyway, these are great filters at a reasonable price. They go on sale often.
