Whitey - The Rise And Rule Of The Shoprite King Paperback

Niel Joubert did a great job here. He traces the life of Whitey Basson in the business world from a newly qualified Chartered accountant to Pep. He becomes a financial director in his late 20s. He does a great job at Pep and then Shoprite, builds Shoprite to become the greatest retail chain in Africa including using acquisitions. His relationship with Christo Wiese made most of these possible. It is unfortunate that Whitey was not given the 25% He was promised. He should have been a billionaire

It gave a nice background to Witey Basson, etc, but was very disappointing in the detail of the African expansion, the Steinhof issues, and other difficult matters where he wasn't such a nice guy.

Neither here nor there. Was also hoping to get some business leanings or feel like this was someone I would like to meet. Found neither.
