I was looking for a game to play with my family that wouldn't end in screaming, tears, or a three-hour explanation of the rules. The WE Games Wooden Shut The Box is IT. The "Easy to Play" Factor: My 7-year-old figured this out in 30 seconds. Roll dice, flip numbers. That’s it. It’s basically gambling for kids without the risk of losing their college fund (unless you are playing for high stakes, which I don't recommend with a 7-year-old). It makes addition fun, which is weird, but I'll take it. The "Play for Hours" Factor: We bought this for a "quick game" and ended up sitting at the table for three hours, yelling "SHUT THE BOX!" every time someone flipped all the tiles. It’s addictive. It’s simple. It’s noisy (in a fun way). The wood feels nice, and the felt lining makes the dice rolls feel very fancy, like we are Victorian-era fishermen—minus the smell of fish. Pros: Looks great on the coffee table. Felt-lined, so you can roll aggressively without breaking your table. Perfect for when you want to feel smart doing basic math. Cons: You will develop a competitive vendetta against your spouse over the number '9'. If you need a simple, high-quality, and frustratingly fun game, buy this. It is a fantastic way to spend a rainy afternoon.

I’m so glad that I ordered this game. It was exactly as advertised. It arrived quickly and has already provided hours of fun for my wife, myself, and I was six years old. It has also helped by six year old son with adding numbers up quickly.

I decided to purchase this for two reasons. I remember playing this as a kid and having so much fun with it. I also bought it as one of the family games to take to a relative's house over the holidays. It was an instant hit! Those that remembered playing it before were excited to play again and those that had never played were instantly addicted. It's perfect for solo play when you just have a few minutes, or to pass around the table at large gatherings. The box on this model is very sturdy, yet it's still small enough to easily take along in the car. I much prefer the 1 through 12 model to the ones with only 9 or 10 numbers. Great price, durable, easy to learn. I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

Bought this game to play with members of a Health & Rehab center. Games that are simple, yet fun and bring people together were what we were looking for. It is a good size for older people with a less sure handling of smaller objects. It did have a bit of an odor when it arrived as other reviewers noted, so I put it out in the sun for a couple of hours and that totally dissipated. This is a fantastic game to play with young children, too, as it helps with their addition and fine motor skills. Excellent and thank you for making a version easy for old and young alike!

Love this game. Very simple to play and can play with as many people as you want. My wife and I will go back and forth seeing who can get the lowest score or will have friends over and will casually play while drinking or watching sports. Quality also seems really good and not cheap.

It is a fine set. My adult guests enjoyed playing. A good value. I prefer to have the numbers only on the bottom of each tile (one through twelve). You start play with all the tile tipped up exposing their numbers. As you play you turn them down. It is distracting to have those turned down numbers in view. I covered them with a decal so it is not a problem. Perhaps that wont bother other buyers. The description of how to play was minimal however Google gives you several options of play which are more interesting for adults. The game is easy to learn and fun at a party.

Purchased this as a gift for a wee relative. I liked this version has it had 12 numbers. Many of the other similar games only had 9 numbers which I didn’t understand as maximum on 2 dice comes to 12 - I suppose the 9 digit version perhaps makes the game more difficult - I don’t know, I just prefer the 12 digit version.

Amazing game - would 100% recommend it as there are many variations to this game. The reason I gave this specific brand 4 stars is because it is a bit small and does not come into actually close in box but it is also a strength because it is simple and easy to store away and set up! I personally like the box set up but the price point on this was more favourable. It got here really quick and is just as advertised. Would recommend to anyone at this price point. Not paid for this review nor was I given this for free. I keep it 100%

Expected better quality on the flip mechanisms as well as wood finish. It’s a great game though.
