Fun Will Also Use It With Younger Grandkids
My 6 year old granddaughter and I had fun with this. The heating element and mixing pot are separate. I stirred the Jello await from her while it was heating. Then I took the melted Jello over to her soshe could extract it from the pot and squirt it into the molds. We had to work quickly before the Jello set up. When it did start to set I was able to melt it again slightlyand then return the mixing bowl back to her so she could do more. Perhaps that is why they give you two syringes so that two people can squirt at the same time. The ingredients list should include ice. But luckily our ice bin had enough ice already. The kit does not contain the ingredients so buy those in advance. The gummies were tasty. I used the basic recipe. A small whisk would help for stirring, but we used the blade (only) of a hand mixer and that did the trick. Since I can keep him away from the heat I will next allow my 4 year old grandson to try this. I am not sure he has the strength and coordination to aim and effectively squirt the Jello into the molds. Good product, seems sturdy enough and easy enough to keep and use for years.

Great way to experiment
My 12 year old loves this. She likes trying new things and has been cooking more. I thought this was a great addition to her growing collection. She likes that the instructions are easy to follow and it comes with so many pieces to use.

Doesn’t include any ingredients
We ended up returning this because it doesn’t include any ingredients so we wanted one that comes with stuff rather than having to buy this and then go shopping for everything else. Was excited to use it the day we got it but wasn’t able to since it didn’t include anything

Fun
This is actually a very fun little set. The instructions are simple. I would suggest less gelatin for a lighter gummy. The ones we made by instructions were quite tough. Gummies in less than 30 minutes though. You can't beat it. Use juice or whatever you want. The set comes apart. Easy to clean and use. Wonderful set for beginners.

Make candy AND toys!
The media could not be loaded. We had a good time with this. So far we've made batches with kids under 12 and another with older kids. Both have enjoyed it.First off the box is so colorful it starts off the anticipation immediately. Then there are such cute molds that the kids were trying to decide which one they wanted to try first. We enjoyed the whole process. We did have to wait till we could get to the store to buy the ingredients. But eventually that happened and the fun began. We used a recipe found in the enclosed booklet. It worked perfectly. It was the first recipe in the book. The texture was exactly what you'd want for a gummy. If you messed with them too early they would be sticky but if you waited just a big longer they were easy to work with. At first we tried getting them out with a toothpick but after a while we just pushed up from below and got them out easily. We used a cheaper brand of Jello instead of the name brand and the flavor was flat. Darn! A bargain isn't a bargain in that case. But the texture was perfect. It was just the right amount of sticky to be a toy. We threw it at the wall and it stuck like those sticky hands. Then it kind of walked down the wall a little before we pulled it off. I took a video of it sticking to the ceiling. It was seriously like those sticky toys you buy. My son used one of the gummy worms like a helicopter propeller and it wouldn't break off even after minutes of spinning it. It was strong!Second batch we used a different gelatin and it tasted much better. We had left overs in the bowl after all the molds were filled. It was quite a bit of waste. So the next batch I figured out how to make less and it was exactly the perfect amount. Here's the recipe we used to make just the right amount.3 packets (.25 ounce) of unflavored gelatin2.25 ounces flavored gelatin1/3 cup of waterNo waste left over and the perfect texture.Other tips. It looks fun to have the heating bowl in the middle of the molds, but it's actually hot and the heat transfers to the molds. So the other time we had the heater separate of the mold 'ring' and it worked great. We found the syringes to be super helpful because we could fill the molds exactly the right amount giving them a nice look on the front and back. You have to be careful toward the end to not get air into the syringe. If you do flip it over and 'bleed' the air out before starting to fill the molds.Super fun activity. It would be interesting to make our own gummy vitamins because I can use some herb powders that are specific for each person depending on their symptoms. I'm just not sure what that would do for the flavor.Plus I avoid buying those kinds of vitamins because of all the sugar. So it may not happen. But if there's no other way to get them in your kids mouths then it might be worth trying.I know I could make these without all this equipment, but it makes it magical for the kids to do because everything happens in one space. The heating, the filling, the cooling, the removal, the eating.Voila! Fun and done.

Regular jello does NOT work in this.
I purchased this for my grandson for his birthday along with a ton of jello. Regular jello does NOT work with this. The description is VERY misleading.

Ingredients Not Included
The Gummy Candy Maker was a disappointment. I opened the box with my grandchildren to find that you must go shopping before you can use this product. You will need to purchase unflavored gelatin and fruit juice before you can make the gummy candy. This information should be included on the front of the box. Also misleading is the setting time. It does not take ten minutes, it hardens very quickly making it very difficult to fill the molds. I do not recommend this product.
