JB Industries Bottle of Black Gold Vacuum Pump Oil , 1 quart

Note: Some reviewers said they didn't get the nozzle shown in the pictyre. I bought this oil from Amazon (not a 3rd party seller) and the nozzle was included. This oil was cheaper than what was available at the local auto parts store, and is a much better brand (auto parts store had some generic brand). JB is one of the best names in vacuum pumps (made in America) along side Yellow Jacket and Robinair (slightly lower end). I have a JB DV-85N, so I figured I would get the vacuum pump oil from the same manufacturer, plus it was slightly cheaper. Vacuum pump oil is vacuum pump oil, the biggest difference is the quality and purity of the oil which translates in to how well of a vacuum it pulls (measured in microns). A cheap generic oil may not pull lower than 1000 or a few hundred microns. A good oil will let you pull really low for a more absolute vacuum. How well of a vacuum you pull can translate into AC system performance, you don't want any contaminates in the system. So having a good vacuum pump only gets you so far if you don't use good oil.

I was operating a freezer dryer for a business and switched to Black Gold after reading several forum posts on some professional HVAC sites. Used it in a 2-stage Chinese pump where it lowered the vacuum by over 10% and reduced the pump chatter. It would have been great to do a longevity test by using two identical pumps and running the cheap oil in one while the Black Gold was in the other but I didn't have that luxury and the freeze dryer was sold soon after. The professionals swear by this product and it seems to work as well as it's reputation would lead you to believe.

This pump oil work OK for me. I think I need a better pump to get me more vac. I like the price.

It a good oil and I got the yorker spout cap for easy refill but in packaging the cap wasn't properly close so the oil spill out but luckily it was only a little. This probably happened before or someone had the forethought of putting the bottle in a tightly wrapped plastic bag; will buy again just for the yorker spout cap. EDIT: the bottle is seal; so now I don't know where the oil came from?

This oil works well for the vacuum pump on a Harvest Right Freeze Dryer. Filtering is required between each use, and extra oil (in addition to the 1 bottle that ships with the unit) is required. This is because the filter unit with temporarily absorb much of the filtering oil - until a second round of oil added to the filter pushes the first batch through. This means you can't use just one bottle of oil for the ongoing use of the Harvest Right. One extra bottle seems to do the trick. Consider buying more if you want to be prepared for retiring the recycled oil after a few uses.
