we got the product and went to put it in and it's broke and had burnt ants on it as if someone used it before.

Had all the same wiring as my original. In my RV this is installed next to the water pump and a water leak fried my original one. After fixing the leak and installing this, everything is working how it used to.

The unit looks the same until time to install. The base plate that the unit is built on does not have the same cutouts as the old base unit. The back section does not fir thus making the front not fit. Even the screw holes on new unit are off. Seems that all the other clones for sale are built from the same mold.UPDATE.. I ended up modifying the unit slightly by adjusting the tabs on MY unit where it slides into. Then screwed one of the screws in to hold in place, Then drilled through the plate so I could attach the other screw. It works . There was NO PAPERWORK with this unit when I received it.

I had a diesel heater in my pole barn that needed a bunch of 12v. I was using an underpowered 12v psu that kept dropping to 11v under load. Sometimes, it would kick off, which is bad for a diesel heater. It's only supposed to draw a max of 20a, but it was kicking a 25a psu, so that's not quite right. I rigged this up on the side of the heater and it runs it with zero voltage drop. The fan never even kicks on. It has run for probably about 25 hours now, and it has had zero problems. It doesn't even get hot.In other words, it does a great job of converting 120v AC to 12V DC. I can't tell you how it works where it is supposed to go, since I'm using it differently.

It's not a direct replacement you need to modify the mounting plate drill holes in order to make it fit.

This looks exactly like the OEM model. It does not come with a circuit board, but the OEM manufacture indicated that you do not need the circuit board when upgrading from the original converter to the auto detect model. some reviews complained about base plate fitment or that the wires need to be adjusted /soldered. The unit I received did not exhibit any of those issues. The OEM unit has a plastic base plate. The unit I received has a painted metal base plate.The OEM unit has two versions of firmware. You could send the converter in to OEM to have the firmware updated. I reached out to this manufacturer to clarify if this has the original or updated firmware. The reply I received was about lithium batteries, and did not answer my question. I’ve resubmitted my question and I’m waiting to see which version of the firmware this has. If it has the first version of the firmware, some users had experienced trouble with the OEM unit correctly recognizing the battery chemistry. This was apparently fixed through the firmware update. I know of no way to get the firmware updated on this particular converter if that will need to be done.
