X10 Maxi Controller By X10 Usa
I have used X-10 equipment for lots of years and have many different devices to control. I really like having "wired/plugged-in" controllers vs. wireless remotes, although I have 4 of those, too. And, since, as I said, I have many devices, I want to be able to control them without having to change settings to get to their individual codes. The X 10 Maxi Controller with 16 buttons fits the bill perfectly. It arrived quickly, in its original blister-pack, and works perfectly.Even though I have similar units which are much older, but still work, I wanted one more. Unfortunately, you have to know that it is called the X 10 Maxi Controller for it to appear on the search engines. When I finally stumbled across it I was very happy to find that it was available on Amazon...definitely a win win as far as I'm concered.

Does what it's supposed to do
Although dated in appearance with its wood tone sticky paper, it gets the job done. Unlike some others that appear more modern (white, small, etc.) it does not need a switch to select numbers 1-8 or 9-16. Each of its 16 commands has its own number - hence its size. The "all lights on/off" button is handy for those unexplained middle-of-the-night noises, and it doesn't effect appliance modules.

OLD TECHNOLOGY IF YOU MUST
This was a great product in the 1980s when I first started using them. Now there are much better systems around but if you already have the technology, then you must.Although the vendor was HORRIBLE and dishonest, the product is still workable.Would recommend the active bridge if you live in a 3 phase powered house as they do not work across power phases.EG if the controller is on the positive phase and the lamp or unit is on the other phase, it won't work or will be intermittent.ALSO can get interference and the light go on or off without command. But as I said before, it's 30 year old technology but if you already have many units then go for it.Also sold as Admiral, Radio Shack and others.

Why I would like to return the X-10 Powerhouse Maxi Controller
I already knew it does not work with fluorescent bulbs, so some reason the bulb reignites itself and won't go off. And it does not work with my 4 watt LED bulbs, so I doubled up with 2- 4 watt bulbs. I guess it is because the wattage is so low the Controller does not detect it or my controller does not work. So these are only good for old technology incandescent bulbs.

Ok product if you absolutely must stay with X-10 technology
I bought this unit to replace the older model. The literature accompanying the unit was dated and listed a phone number to support that led to a scam artist. The technology works, mostly, but is highly susceptible to interference. My suggestion is to seek newer or more proven technology rather than invest or reinvest in this technology/ unit. It arrived quickly and safely, but support is almost non-existent, and the company who bought out x-10 doesn't seem too concerned about customer satisfaction or support.

x-10 is a great system
I have been using the x-10 system for more than 20 years, and it is much more than a novelty. It is a very reliable and efficient way of controlling all the electrical items in my apartment: lights, fans and the air conditioner. This particular controller plugs in and can control 16 different items; more if you consider that you might have several lamps assigned to one number. I have one by my bed, one by my recliner and one in my hallway.

Works satisfactorily for NOS
Works exactly as expected - but this seems to be "New Old Stock" - component was probably manufactured years ago (the label showed clear signs of age). X10 components can be a bit hit-or-miss, so glad this worked out.

Old technology. I've had one for over 20 years and it finally gave out. The buttons just wore out. It was a good unit but the Etekcity ZAP 5LX Auto-Programmable Function Wireless Remote Control Outlet I bought is much better for my purposes. I bought the 5 pack with 2 controllers and it is great.
