Dark Restraint

Katee Robert could write a book about literally anything, and I would read it.This is a continuation of the Dark Olympus series. After the last chapter teaser in Midnight Ruin, I knew this was going to be good! Ariadne went through some hard things in the last book, and this picked up from that while also giving insight into her and the Minotaur’s past. I really felt for both main characters throughout the story. They grew up in unfortunate circumstances and everyone around them continually used them as pawns for personal gain. Seeing them learn to communicate with each other and take charge of their lives was refreshing. They experienced a large amount of personal growth. I hope we get an update on Ariadne and the Minotaur in the next installment.Icarus and Daddy Poseidon’s story can’t come soon enough! The plot continuation was captivating as always, and I can't wait to see what’s going to happen after that last major event!

I’m still obsessed with this series because Katee Robert continues to captivate me from page one, making want to keep reading to find out what will happen next, who can they really trust, and will Ariadne and Asterion even make it out of Olympus. I will continue to recommend this series to anyone who loves dark romance.

Olympus is on the verge of collapse, Ariadne is the daughter of Minos. Ariadne marries Dionysus for protection.Asterion, the Minotaur is Minos’s enforcer. He is obsessed with Ariadne and will do anything to have her.

There were several things I loved in this book, including the advances to the overall plot, the reveals we got from several members of the Thirteen (and I can't wait to see how these will twist and turn the world as we move forward), I love how I don't know who to trust anymore and how this sets up Icarus and Poseidon's book next. We are going full-speed ahead and the uncertainty on what happens next is exiting. I cannot wait to see what Hermes has in store, I hope we do see more Dionysus and that Hera thing is going to be so good once we know her full plan. So good! The romance wasn't quite up there for me but it was a fun addition to the series.

I wasn't necessarily pumped to read Ariadne and the Minotaur's story, but I did enjoy it. Definitely not my favorite in the series, but it was still good.Ariadne just wasn't a character I felt any particular way about. I know she has been through a lot, but idk I just didn't feel super invested in her story.I feel for Ariadne and everything she has gone through, and same with the Minotaur but more - he really has been through some rough times.Ultimately, we get to see an interesting side of the Minotaur not normally shown in retellings, and I liked that. I just wasn't particularly invested in them as a couple, it felt like an intermission to get to the next segment. Their spice was good, the scenes of Ariadne in the shops getting cute clothes were delightful, and the way the Minotaur knew things about her?? So sweet.Overall, good addition to the Dark Olympus series and I can't wait for what is next!
