Q: Any idea on the powder/water ratio?

The directions say for a 3 in tube, use 220g powder to 84ml water. However, I use 236g in 90ml water. The tubes vary slightly in size.

Q: What is the powder to water ratio for this type of investment?

Fill the mold form up 3/4 full with warm water. You add the powder to the liquid and add until you get a mound of powder, surrounded by a small mote of water. The consistency should be that of thick pancake batter.

Q: How is this any different then Plaster of paris

It can take the burn out heat past 1200 degrees F. Old casting recipes from the 60's say you can use plaster but you need to add something like Lodo, or sand, or already fired plaster. The plaster shrinks too much on it's own.
