Emergency Whistles, 2 PCS Loud Safety Survival Whistles with Carabiner and Lanyard for Outdoor Hiking, Hunting, Camping, Fishing, Kayaking

I have several traditional sports style whistles but wanted to add something more compact for use on hikes. These are compact and lightweight.Likes:- The flat design makes them easier to wear than the pea style whistle.- Loud - I tested these against a pea style whistle. The measurement was done at about 10ft and I tried to blow each whistle with the same amount of force but that is certainly a variable. For the pea style whistle I got a reading for 102db. For these whistles I got reading for 100db for each.- Lightweight - These are made of aluminum and are feather weight.Note 1 - The two whistles do not sound exactly the same. One is of a constant pitch and the other has some variation similar to a traditional whistle with a pea. I think that is because the plastic inserts are not placed exactly the same.Note 2 - The package does include lanyards for each whistle. I inadvertently left those out of the photo.Overall - I wasn't too sure about them at first but when I tested them out they were close to a US Army spec whistle. I often go on hikes alone and having a good whistle with me is something I consider essential, I'm glad I picked these up.

Buy this for emergency and don’t expect to be saved. Piece of useless junk.

We go out hiking sometimes and now that our grandkids are getting a bit older, we will start taking them along. These whistles are very loud and would make it super easy for someone to find me were I to get lost or need help. Sometimes the simplest of things makes all the difference in an emergency. I tested both whistles and they work very well. Having the lanyard is nice so we just keep it around our neck instead of in a pocket to potentially fall out.

The whistle barely works and it's on a clip, it the clip breaks...your whistle is gone.

You have to blow HARD to get these whistles to work, and then they do so effectively. They're super loud! Great for safety purposes. We'll be keeping these in our camping kit.I like that these come in a set of two with different colors, so we know whose is whose.The whistle itself is good quality and portable enough to take on a hike (or wherever) in the event that you get lost and need help being found. The fact that the whistles are flat means they're more comfortable in your pocket than a traditional cylindrical pea whistle.The downside is that all of the attachments (metal lobster clasps, keyrings, carabiners, lanyards) feel cheap and disposable.- CARABINERS: Although metal, these are lightweight and thin. They're really only for wearing the whistle on a belt loop or a zipper pull. They are NOT weight-bearing.- LANYARDS: Made of silky grosgrain ribbon (woven nylon) with have smooth edges that won't snag other fabric. The length is correct. Not the worst lanyard in the world but definitely not the thickest/nicest.Given the quality of the whistle itself, I think this is still a good deal for a set of two.

We have two young adult daughters, so I asked my husband to order these whistles for them as stocking stuffers. I did not blow the whistle for full volume, but I did test it out softly. It seems like you would need to blow hard to get the full volume. I like that the whistle has a keychain, lanyard and carabiner so the girls can chose which way they want to carry it. I have read that whistles are a more effective way to get help than saying "help" so I will feel a bit better knowing they have whistles. Plus I really like they are metal and come in a 2-pack.

I didn't even dare to blow full force into these and they certainly sent my cats to the far corners of the house. What can you say about an emergency whistle other than it works and it's very loud? I will be glad to put one of these in each of our cars for emergency situations. At such a reasonable price, they are great peace of mind.

It needs short sharp hard blows to make sound. Not great one for elderly or young people.
